[quote=hehateme]All this female dogging about Eichel. Really what has e ever done in the league? he is often hurt, is not that great stat wise, his best year was 82 pts in 77 games for us,
Hell Skinner had 82 last year in 79 games.
Buffalo had a lot of good players around Eichel, ROR, Kane, Hall, Stall, BOGO, Rhino... it just did not work. I for one think we are finally in a way better place without Eichel then with him.
We have our goalie of the future (praying hard) in Levi. Now if we can sign Tyler Bertuzzi, trade for a top 4 RHD and sign a vet goalie like MAF, Varlamov or Freddie A, I see no reason why this team cant be in the playoffs next year.
Of all the guys mentioned above, I would like to have that #62 from the Florida team back.
He has stepped up his game more so than anyone else in the playoffs. - THENINELINE

I think you need a lot more context with the presented scenario, but at face value, I want them to get the guy. - TheSabresTaco
If the Sabres had a trade in place for say a high end top 4 RD with term and no NTC/NMC, are they making sure “he wants to be here” before they pull the trigger? Said player has 0 control.
If they aren’t making every player is thrilled about Buffalo it’s just an empty platitude |

He salvages and refurbishes/paints. Usually themed pieces. ie bedroom dressers with teams or musicians, benches for the lake house etc. Sometimes you'll see a wine rack in there or something.

Why can't this be a thing? The Sabres replicated the Bills' cultural model, guys who truly love and work for one another. Those are the guys you want. Once you build that system, you can bring in a guy like Kane, ROR, Eichel, Reinhart, guys who probably shouldn't be setting your cultural bar.
Every winning team has guys who want to be there. It became the Sabres buzz phrase because of people like the above. I'm not sorry they did it, they needed to. This place was a (frank)ing joke and everyone knew it. Kevo put this ship back on course. And good on him. - TheSabresTaco
Its not even soley about "wanting to be here" Kevo and Co. have built a team that not only gets a long well but a team that can be themselves. That stuff goes a long way. The locker room drama and other BS is far and few between now. |

The stanley cup final will have former Sabres:
Eichel, Carrier, Mcnabb, Reinhart, Montour, Staal
Eichel, Skunk and Montour are all in the running for the Conn Smyth...
It is astounding that the Sabres failed so horribly with the rosters they had. Another year with more evidence revealing how poorly the Sabres were run (might even still be running that way in many departments). - washedup20
all you have to do is look at the goaltending and defense we had, we were franking horrible. lehner was a drunk (thank goodness he got help), Hutton could not see, Chad Johnson Meh, Ullmark was the best of the bunch. its not hard to see why we lost most nights.

Matthew or Bobrov for The Rats. There is no one else.
You could make a case for 4 Vegas players.

As a rental I bet he's traded for the equivalent of an early 2nd and a prospect/young goalie like, I dunno, UPL.
Every. (frank)ing. Time. "Holy poop, ______ just got absolutely hosed in that deal for {star player}!!!!" - TheSabresTaco
I would love to have Helly but c'mon I highly doubt that happens, I hope i am wrong.
The others I listed are more reasonable targets IMO

I dont want to see them sign/trade for a guy that's only slightly better than Comrie/UPL and then call it a day. We've been doing that nonsense for years with Hutton, Dell, Comrie, Subban.
They always go for an older guy in a good system with a limited sample size and say "Whelp, this'll do." And then it doesn't.
Spend for one good thing instead of throwing money and term at hopefuls. Hellebuyck is legitimately, undeniably good and the Sabres would be legitimately good if they had him. - Hank Balling
you aint wrong, but will he be here long term with Levi in the mix?

Outside of the previous sabers team that’s the norm for about every team though. I watched a lot of away broadcasts this year or ESPN+ (because I think the Sabres broadcast is trash outside of Dan Dunlevey doing play by play)
on several away broadcast they mention about team is going away together this year and/or how close knit of a group they are.
It was talked about here and in Buffalo how the Sabres found this new way of life when really that’s kind of a common thing around the NHL. |

As taco said It happens every time.
Helly has so many strikes against him. He’s probably the best goalie right now but…..
Rental
High cap hit
Goalie
New contract demand
Age
Wear and tear.
Market for goalies and supply. Swayman will be moved IMO.
I think he goes for a lot less than people expect. |

I’m not predicting this- but if the Sabres take a step back all this culture lovey dovey locker room BS will go away real quick |

I would try to sign him to a 7x$8m deal.
But I would also accept the risk of him as a pure rental.
Mittelstadt, UPL, 2nd (that can become a 1st if they win a round) I highly doubt whatever they end up receiving beats that deal.

Not going to relitigate the specifics of that deal because the Jets aren't going to get anything that good.
But in general I would probably top any offer with a combination of picks and prospects |

2nd that’s. Conditional one based on if the Sabres reach ECF.

No, they're not. I trust Adams' office to make him comfortable getting traded here.
In this case, this is how they need to handle it.
They did it with Chychrun and they did it with Murray. The guys they extend for a long time, I think it's a big part of the conversation.

It’s impossible to have this reassurance beforehand but if I was guaranteed top 10 goaltending for the next 4-5 years like Hellebyuck has been most of his career, I’d give them whatever prospect they wanted.
Sabres can win without Savoie amounting to anything.
They can’t win with UPL/Comrie types playing lots of games |
