In all seriousness, I think its fine. Deflating sure but id rather get those moves out of the way first. I believe he was gunna get a 2 year deal in fa so they're paying to avoid that.
But more importantly, like it or not, if he chooses not to retire and they let him walk I think more than a few players on the team would be a bit ticked. Its a largely inconsequential move that keeps ppl happy.
I dont like it, i don't hate it. It /shouldn't/ stop them from doing the things they need to do in order to be a playoff team next year. - Michael Ghofrani
I'm in Hank's court. Kinda knew they'd bring one of Larries back. Hoped they'd just move on entirely, but braced for both.
It is what it is. Every team, even the best ones, have one or two larries on them. Keeps ppl happy, probably. - Michael Ghofrani
There's somethin unique about these two. Expected to be top 6 contributors, now hanging onto grinder roles. Lack of leadership when the group needed it, now considered irreplaceable for their leadership. Just a lot of disappointment associated with them.

Felt like time to finally turn the page. - Lunaion
If you changed their names and they were FA signings bringing the on ice impact they do in the 4th line, Id say they were good adds. Its awkward cause of their history here, but the players really like him. It's sort of a hard sell internally to a team whose average age looks like a graduating class from university, that they dont need the vet they all like back there anymore.

The sell is that it's time for the next leadership group to takeover. Markets well too.
If Adams brings Girgensons back, he hasn't made 1 hard decision for this Franchise. I hope Kyle comes in and stays healthy. But Dammit it's time to move this Franchise forward. I really hope the offseason gets better.

if he had let them walk he still wouldnt have made a hard decision.
Moves on the margins arent tough calls to make. Deciding which high end prospect has a future here and which needs to be sold high on, those are the tough decisions.

Don't underestimate waiving Fitz, gut-wrenching decision for him.

I'm OK with them bringing Oko back for 1 year, as long as his buddy Girgs isn't brought back as well. We need a good PK specialist in Z's spot.
