if he had let them walk he still wouldnt have made a hard decision.
Moves on the margins arent tough calls to make. Deciding which high end prospect has a future here and which needs to be sold high on, those are the tough decisions. - Michael Ghofrani
Ideally they would take this opportunity to continue okposo for Captain of either home/away games and give the other half to Dahlene, then they can transition the other C to power and have those to be their home/ away captain combos for the foreseeable future
Yeah thats definitely one to consider. Even Peterka, to an extent. - Michael Ghofrani
I think one of he or Quinn could and maybe should be moved in the right deal. I'm personally higher on Peterka than Quinn although I know I'm virtually alone in that respect

Yeah I see Quinn’s ceiling as Thomas Vanek and Peterka’s ceiling as Taylor Hall.
I would take Vanek in his prime over the weakest league MVP ever.

I went with peterka simply because the question will be whether he has enough raw talent.
Or put differently, if I can move peterka in a deal for someone with a much higher talent ceiling, perhaps a plus shooter with a team friendly contract that closely mirrors the ones you handed out who once played for granato (wink), is that a better move long term?

Lol stop
It was dumb when they did it with Briere/Drury and it’s even dumber to do it with Dahlin/Power.
If Okposo is really a leader, he will award Dahlin or Tuch with the “C” and take the “A”.
He got his fun in the sun and I am happy for him but do the right thing and pass the captaincy.

Also Quinn's off puck play is miles better. - Michael Ghofrani
Peterka has a higher ceiling than Quinn.
Unless Quinn finds a skating and stride coach to improve his skating like Reinhart did.

Jj will always have the higher ceiling - Sabretooth9
Im sorry but thats not remotely true. Like I'd buy the argument he could be a better player, or a more liked player by the fans, but he doesnt have nearly the shooting talent quinn does.
There's a reason why one went top 10, the other went 2nd round. I can hear an argument for why hes a better option for different reasons, but raw talent isnt one of them.

Quinn needs to improve his skating. You don’t want another olofsson.
JJ has the skating down and speed. His get a better shot and he is good to go. Easier to each someone how to shoot vs teaching someone how to skate and use their edges better

Probably a fair comp tbh. I like Peterka’s tenacity. I would move either for Hellebuyck which, again, I know is not a popular opinion - Hank Balling
I would move a 1st and one of the prospects not named Savoie with Joker and a 2nd before even considering JJ or Quinn right now. I need to see them flanking Cousins next year until at least the new year.

Maybe the most incorrect statement ever posted on this blog.

I dont personally have an issue with Quinn's skating. And also his off puck play is infinitely better than olofsson.
Seriously, they've never had a rookie forward profile with the kind of underlying numbers Quinn had particularly without the puck.
Although granted, thats cause the only rookies making the team were 18 year old 1st overalls lol
In all seriousness, I think its fine. Deflating sure but id rather get those moves out of the way first. I believe he was gunna get a 2 year deal in fa so they're paying to avoid that.
But more importantly, like it or not, if he chooses not to retire and they let him walk I think more than a few players on the team would be a bit ticked. Its a largely inconsequential move that keeps ppl happy.
I dont like it, i don't hate it. It /shouldn't/ stop them from doing the things they need to do in order to be a playoff team next year. - Michael Ghofrani
What makes you think Okposo was getting a 2 year deal in FA?
Contract projections had him as a one year deal at around a million.

Here's my thing: you have Kulich, Savoie and Rosen who should all get top-6 looks within a year. You've got Mittelstadt, Krebs and Greenway looking like they'll get primary looks for the 3rd line.
I dont need these prospects playing with Captain Larry (all due respect) so what are we doing here

Who is the wink aimed at, as it seems obvious you have a specific player in mind?
