I’m worried about the foot speed of the team. I thought it was glaring vs Devils, how much faster they were. Quicker decision making yea that would help. GG just took the fall. I honestly don’t think a new coach is going to change much if the roster is relatively the same
This is the fastest the league has ever been we can’t behind the 8ball on it. Laf and Kakko kill us with this, and ultimately why they’re struggling imo. Neither are very fast on their skates - Slimtj100
At this point I would keep Kakko over Laf. Kakko looked good during the season. Great away from the puck, was showing more fight in the dirty areas, not throwing that away for one bad series. imo |

You dont necessarily have to be fast, but have to play fast. Always skating, quick passes as you move down the ice. The system GG instilled didnt do it. You keep focusing on KK and Laf but ignore the rest of the team. |

I’m hoping GG is the reason and they’ll succeed more under a different coach. I do think that was part of the reason he’s gone now |

Both of them are not fast enough with their ability and how they process what is happening. I fully blame the Rangers for that. |

We don’t have enough team speed in general. They all choked no doubt. I know what mean you tho, playing faster. But if we want to forecheck (which most teams having success are doing) we need to be faster to do that, on their feet. Devils had no problem defending our forecheck after game 2. And we really won those two games on the PP chances, and subsequent PP goals. |

So you thinking Brashear? |

I've been saying from the time GG was fired that my retread choice was Lavy and my new hire coach would be Spencer Carbery, but the more I read on Leach the more I think he could be a good option also.
Part of me leans towards Lavy just because I think our window to win is somewhat small at this point and Lavy has had immediate success in a bunch of different places, even if it didn't last all that long. If he gets us a cup I don't care if he's gone the next year ala Keenan |

It would be nice to have a young/non retread coach and have Laviolette as the assistant. Kinda like when Ruff was with the team. |

I'm just not sure Lavy would take that role. There's a lot of open coaching positions out there and there's rumors that Columbus is interested in him too. I'd prefer to go the opposite route and hire Lavy and Leach/Carbery as assistant with the promise that they will take over in a couple years.
I think that's what is happening in NJ and Brunette will take over for Ruff |

Agreed the rangers need to add speed. Kakko and Laf being bad skaters is a reason they have developed slower. A new coach needs to find a system to fit the current personnel. Especially 5v5

I think that they felt like gallant didn’t adjust and they were just winging it out there. Not to absolve the players of any blame, but GG sure as poop didn’t seem to help |
