It's crazy because that market is in the top half of the league in terms of total population. We might not have Auston Matthews without the hockey growing over there - picklerick
Something to think about for sure. |

I actually think it kind of sucks. If only the franchise just paid its (frank)ing bills they would still have an arena. - JRR1285
We'd also lose the best jersey in the league |

If you're gonna run what could be a potentially be a billion dollar investment like a snake oil salesmen, you deserve to fold. |

Here we go. My completely and totally bulletproof and absolutely improbable offseason Armchair GM. It's all very serious and will definitely happen and I am a genius:
RFAs:
Zac Jones: $900k x 1 year
K'Andre Miller: $4.5m x 5 years
Alexis Lafreniere: $2.1m x 2 years
UFAs:
Tyler Motte: $1.5m x 1 year
Tomas Nosek (or someone comparable): $1.75m x 1 year
Alex Killorn: $5m x 3 years
Jaro Halak: $1m x 1 year
Trades:
Goodrow to anyone who will have him for a 7th rounder
Panarin with a 3rd team retaining 50% + and picks it takes to Toronto for Willy Nylander
FWDs:
Kreider - Mika - Kakko
Laf - Chytil - Nylander
Cuylle - Trocheck - Killorn
Vesey - Nosek - Motte
Brod
DEF:
Lindgren Fox
K'Andre Trouba
Jones Scheider
Harpur - picklerick
Forgetting the plausibility of the trades, I'm not sure the Ranger's organization is better off from the following transaction:
In: Nylander + Killorn
Out: Panarin + likely Othmann/a bunch of picks to a team to eat $5.8M in dead cap for 3 years |

I don't think the Rangers are retaining any money in this asinine scenario. |

The rangers aren't, but a 3rd team has to and that will cost a ton of assets |

Nylander is a stud and is 5 years younger than Panarin AND plays RW. Killorn is an underrated member of those 2 TBL championship teams and put up 30 goals last year.
Allows the "Kids" to slot up in the roster to all get top 6 minutes while playing with all kinds of talent. Allows Trocheck to center a balanced, hard working 3rd line that is defensively responsible but can still chip in. Nosek was 60% on FO's last year. There's an additional $1.7m in cap space if you want to add a third liner in case Cuylle doesn't work out.
Add in a new coach with a new perspective who can hopefully maximize a much more well rounded roster that is still brimming with talent.
It's all so easy. Don't know why they haven't thought of all of this already |

That is correct. You and Brukie need to work on your reading comprehension skills. There's a 3rd team. Make me a Nylander Drury avatar now |

Does Nylander put up 80 points playing with Chytil instead of Tavares? I'm not so sure.
I get the thought process and don't completely hate it but I wouldn't do it |

In all seriousness the Leafs have 14 players signed past this season with like $8m in cap space. They're gonna have to move out Marner or Matthews and take almost nothing back. I don't know what the hell they could do.
The only goalie they have signed is Matt Murray at $4.7m |

7 forwards signed lol
In reality, ZAR and Acciari should be affordable depth to bring back. Assuming they want to stay.
Plus they'll likely be able to LTIR Jake Muzzin. His career could be over.
Nick Robertson is dirt cheap and will be healthy.
I think they'll find a way to do it without losing Matthews or Marner. They could move TJ Brodie, I'm sure there's a market for him. They can probably re-sign Schenn for the league minimum to fill that spot.
Maybe Nylander gets moved, but Marner and Matthews are the core of that team and Tavares is going nowhere even if they wanted to move him, obviously. |

Wow, thanks for asking Brukie! So, in this totally plausible scenario, there would be a 3rd team retaining 50% of Panarin's contract. It's right there in the post. Hope this helps.
Love,

Panarin is going to Anaheim I can feel it. You heard it here first for like the 10th time he’s not a playoff player and nor are they a playoff team. They need some juice on that team so that’s why. Bread says sure I’ll make 11 million bucks in sunny Cali and play with Stromer |

Drury gets back Brett Leason and Brock McGinn, hire Sutter. Let's cook. |
