Well said. Nonis is the poster boy of a proven failure that inexplicably continues to get hired in the NHL. A random hockey fan would GREATLY outperform him in a GM job. Maybe he has some valuable executive expertise we don't know about. He has proven to be incompetent at roster management decisions and I wouldn't want him having any control in that. |

Alex Tanguay could be leaving to to be the Flames new head coach. A friend heard this on a obscure podcast. |

Thabks Trevor.
Maybe they hired Nonis just to do the exact opposite of what he recommends? I cannot see any other reasons to hire him.
Forward thinking at its best. |

An odd thing to do.... Only makes sense if he is there for just there for insight and not oversight. |

I blame Iginla (and a few others) for starting the "you gotta fight after a clean hit" nonsense.
My money is on him being a troglodyte. |

More on this later this week, but that game against the Rangers on February 6 was a turning point in the season. Lucic was nursing something and couldn’t fight — he took a big hit from Sammy Blais that game and looked toothless in the penalty box.
Jacob Trouba first flattens Dillon Dube. Later in the game he nails Kadri breaking down the far side.
Tanev tried, but if steps up early and makes Trouba pay the price? Kadri likely doesn’t get steamrolled later on. Nazem’s game went into a tailspin after that.
That piece will be out once the news dies down a bit.
I’m a bit of a troglodyte myself so it’s just my take. That game pushed the season from “bad dream” into “nightmare” territory. |

I can't remember the last time I thought a fight was justified .. but I wasn't always in favor of banning it .. btw, what's Clutterbuck know for? |

Just watched todays presser and Conny kind of impressed me.
Most notible takeaway for me was:
“I think we’re going to change the core a little bit. We’re going to add some youth to the lineup. We need to move forward.”

I also watched the presser I think Conroe was the best choice. He wants to be here and he was a player who never won a cup, so he wants to try in management.
He has experience in AHL and NHL. He was a player, and a couch who moves up to management. He also knows the whole organization inside.
@ Deddie I agree. Saying that they would change the core somewhat was also great to hear. |

I would be ok with that. Bring in Love as an assistant coach. Gallant seems to have a short shelf life. |

So who gets the head coaching job?
Internally you have Huska, Love, and Muller
Old Flames alumni you have Savarf and Tanguay.
And coach with winning pedigree you have Gallant.
Pretty big decision for Connie, one that could easily bite him in the ass. |

Huskas would be an interesting choice, I’m familiar with him as he coached the Rockets for many years but don’t know what he contributed to the last coaching staff. Love is probably going to start as an assistant.
Gallant has a 2 year shelf life, not sure he’s the right choice, it’s getting pretty old recycling all the fired coaches.
Huge no to Muller and don’t know anything ovout Tanguay. |

Also have heard Andrew Brunette who is 75/51/19 as an NHL head coach and Huberdeau had 115 points playing for him 2021/22. |

I saw that as well, maybe Huberdeau can help pay his salary to get his game back.
