Trading down still adds to the quality and not quantity of the prospect pool. - manvanfan
Yeah I know adding two players would make a PP better than zero.
I know you are a prospect nerd and spend a lot of time looking over who is who in the availability. I think that it is a good hobby for you but I say this with no ill intention, until more of your ideas come to reality then it is nothing more than reading material.
You have to tone down your telling everyone that they are wrong with your batting record of .078 .
You want two players that have a real reach to play in the NHL. I prefer one surer bet.

I'd rather use first round picks on top6 or top4, as much as we need a middle 6 center I just think at 11th you should be doing a lot better than that. I wouldn't hate the pick, we need a shut down center, much rather would see D picked. - neem55
We'll revisit one day, I firmly believe this kid's ceiling is higher. You don't. So be it.
If you're watching the playoffs, you'd have to be blind to miss the importance of a younger developing bottom 6 C that can play D. |

If it's to get rid of OEL, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

What I'm really noticing is the importance of having competent defenders. They are quite a bit more important imo. As for Danielson, I could be wrong about him for sure but I don't see a top6 center. |

OEL has a NMC. That makes trading him almost impossible IMO. Last time he had a 2 team list.

So you don't know much about the draft or the players but you are going to make the assumption that your situation is 100% correct and mine is reading material?
Pot meets kettle as you like to say
I didn't tell you anything other than instead of just adding 1 top 6 forward, adding a middle 6 and top 4 would also bring quality to the prospect pool. The prospect pool is weak. |

Because I am paying little attention to this years draft does not mean I don't know the history of years past.
I think once you get out of the top 10 chances of being an impact NHL player go down greatly, you don't.
We have a few first round and second prospects already in our PP pool and most of them are longshots. Juulsen Raty Kravstov (KHL) Johansson Woo Hoglander Klimovich Likkerimaki.
You can think trading down is a good idea, I don't. I think if it was a good idea a lot more teams would do it more regularly. |

Not all drafts are equal.
I also didn't say it was a good idea, I said it was an option to get rid of cap space and would still fill needs for the team because this draft isn't like others. It's projects to be a very good draft where getting someone at 15th could easily be the same quality as someone you get a 8th in another draft. Which is why that Blackhawks writer said the price to trade up is high. |

Getting rid of cap space was what we did with OEL and Eriksson.
I really don't see a huge problem with Myers here until TDL. I say suck it up one more year unless you can move him without giving up the first round pick. Play him less minutes and put him on third pairing with Hirose.
I get more riled seeing Bear get two and a half mil and playing top pairing with Hughes. That is way more concerning to me, just because your top pairing sucks on the right side.
The comments on here about this years draft are all over the board. You guys can't agree on who you would take at 11 or 19 if need be. Every time someone recommends someone then other follow up with negativity about that certain player so I don't believ it as strong as some say outside the top 10. For those that do think it is a must draft year , have at er we will see how it plays out.

He looked good when called up. I would consider him on the big club next year even though Load Man says one more year.

You wouldn't be giving up a first in that mock trade.
That would be the point, if you get rid of Myers with trading down and picking up other pieces, you could use those others pieces to acquire someone through trade or through free agency to not see Bear on the first pairing.
The comments on here are just discussion of potential players. Each prospect is going to have something negative about them, if not they would be talked about top 5. The fact is that most NHL scouts or former scouts that now do public rankings have said he good this draft looks.
Most have compared this forward group to the group of 2015. Where Joel Eriksson Ek, Boeser, Konecny, Beauvillier all picked 20th or later.

I got called an idiot many times for thinking that when I gave some possible projections when he was called up. One of the guys on that list was Akira Schmid. (NJ goalie) Who split time this year in AHL/NHL. NJ was also a very good team with a strong D in front of him. Van does not look like they will be as good as NJ was this year.

Is Arturs Silovs the #Canucks’ goalie-of-the-future?
certainly appears to be tracking in that direction. But it's goaltending, so who really knows?! Will vote yes, but still think he's best served to start next season in Abby and play a lot |

TDL is not a bad idea after last year, maybe he can bounce back a bit.
