No. He would be a solid pick I think. I think they trade down or the pick altogether though |

Sandin-Pellikka OJ 2.0? - VanHockeyGuy
I doubt it. Not really the same players. Most compare him to Erik Brannstrom but he is 2 inches taller. I'd say he's much closer to Adam Boqvist.
Boqvist is a good and up and coming defender on a very bad team. In a strong defensive draft Boqvist is probably the 6th best defender in that 2018 draft and worth around the 10-12th spot in a re-draft so far.
This draft compares the forward class of 2015 which there is probably 10 forwards you would take above Boqvist and probably 1 defender in Reinbacher.
Reading some of the draft profiles of OJ, you just have to wonder where it all went wrong. A lot of potential top pairing shut down defender talk. |

Pierre Dorion went on a podcast this morning and gave some good info.
- Chychrun deal was discussed for a year and a half. Called Armstrong stubbon, but other teams had to take money, so Ottawa was able to make a "straight hockey deal"
- Feels Stutzle will be a top 5/10 player in the league. "Has character for a European". Pierre wanted 100 games for him at LW, DJ wanted 82. Some scouts had him at number 1 on their list. Had 4 guys they really liked at the 2020 draft and got two of them in Stutzle and Sanderson
- Drafting Erik Karlsson was a proud moment, Brian Murray asked "how long do you want to work for me?" when Dorion recommended the pick.
-Drafting JG Pageau was a proud moment too considering he wasn't on many lists, the MTL GM let Dorion know that they were gonna take him with the next pick.
-Doesn't expect a lot of roster turnover. Has to sign DeBrincat, will know in the next few weeks, probably before the draft, if he wants to sign longterm. Besides that, just a few contracts due. Will see where Sogaard is if they can't trade for a goalie. |

I really don't get all this talk about trade down and trade top prospects. I see what most guys are writing in here, but I have to say it does not make sense to me. I get more of a feeling of fantasy hockey and ACGM when I read some stuff in here.
About 10 pages ago there was a discussion of why Canucks drafting has sucked for two decades and followed up 10 pages later by the trade down scenario over and over.
There was discussion two days ago about the quality of our prospect pool and how we have let Forsling, McCann, and Chatfield slip through our hands followed up with yesterday's trade Silovs.
I will say I don't think this new group of managers care as much about building through the draft as the fans in here and on social media. That is my gut feeling. I think they look at it as currency to buy and sell.
I understand the Chicago scenario to clear cap for Myers but I don't understand the Canucks not wanting to buy out OEL and clear cap that way. I would be using that 11th OA to buy a further developed RHD in the 21 to 22 year old range that is ready to play now. |

I guess he has that right, but on the other hand not all hometown fans want their local boy playing on their team. Sounds like a win/win. |

Who is that likely trading partner?
A rebuilding team wants draft picks but not likely to send young developed RD out. Not ones that are cost controlled.
Then a competitive team, that has extra young RSD, is unlikely to want a draft pick back. Unless of course, it’s a player that no longer is waiver exempt and they are out of room on the roster. |

A player that comes to my head immediately is Mailloux from the Habs. Yes, he comes with controversy but he is big and can score. He is further along than all these guesses that everyone is taking on here.
Another player I would look at is Bahl (LHD).
From LA Brandt Grans or Durzi
Whitecloud out of Vegas ( older)
I mean I am not a GM but I am sure there will be teams willing to part with someone if the deal is right.

I remember Salo was his personal coach and he said back then even without injuries this guy still needs a lot of work.

Over well in Vancouver. The Canucks wouldn’t take him if the Habs attached a 1st |

I get that Canuck fans like the Bo Horvats of the world, but I tell you Hab fans have no problem with Mailloux same as Oiler fans have no problem with Kane , Chicago fans had no problem with the other Kane. Leaf fans seem okay with the flasher Matthews.

I'm going back to Toronto or I'm not going anywhere. It's been really tough on my family.
* Submits counter offer for presumably more money and more autonomy. Says he'd like to come back by email
* Accepts a new job in a different city 2 weeks later making it easier on the family? |

The whole TO situation from the exit meeting on seem very weird. I bet he was offered a proposal he couldn't refuse.
