If Jim would have just let the draft picks develop
Of course, so Canucks fans can complain about them being allowed to develop and not thrown to the wolves at first chance. - manvanfan
Complaining is all Canuck fans have left… at least for some. |

Andrew Cristall at 68. Wow.
The last F from the CHL to have an equivalency of at least 20 in their pre-DY and at least 40 in their DY taken outside of the 1st round was DeBrincat (39th in 2016). Before that it was Marc Savard (91st in 1995).
Over 60% of these turn into stars.
Referring to Pronman's draft rankings of Cristall at 68.
Not ripping on Corey and his process. He is free to have his rankings and projections. He makes a good living at it.
I just can't see how there are 67 options you would take ahead of Cristall. To me there's not 15 that would go ahead that type of potential.
Pronman's rankings have always been poop though, so he should rip him |

Time to trade Marner and let Matthews walk, the Treliving special |

He's the sensitive one?! That's cute, little pothead calling kettle black - neem55
It’s just typical hypocritical behavior by him. In my year here he’s always defending Reuben no matter what he says and vice versa. They praise each others takes. It’s a real cute act they got there.

Better yet he trades Mathews to CBJ for 3OA +++ Then flips 3OA to Canucks for Demko, Myers and Bear. As you know he loves Canuck RHD and Tenders… lol. |

I'd rather we draft and stockpile top-end D, they fetch a lot at the TDL and before the draft. It's our greatest position of weakness and if we turn it into a strength we can trade the excess for the other positions we lack. - DariusKnight

It will be interesting. Unlike Turtlechuk, Matthews and Marner have said they would like to stay. |

So you want to trade this years first round pick for one next season? There really isn't a lot of top end defenders in this draft class (at least from what projects) - manvanfan
ASP or Reinbacher would be a good start if they're still on the board, if not, then yeah, I'd be open to trading the 11OA for an extra 1st+ next year and try and grab better D. If wingers were at a premium (especially ours who are underachievers and expensive (see Garland, Boeser, etc) we'd be in good shape. |

I'd say most teams go BPA in the first couple of rounds. It seems as if the misses happen in the form of not taking BPA but drafting BPA for need. Probably there is a line that needs to be drawn when the team has no centers, no defenders and wingers galore.
The wingers that are expensive are usually because they performed to earn that. That's not a bad thing unless you take it to the Canucks level
Currently the team is trying to develop their players better. Demotion of Hogz and Podz for a while.
Fickle place the Canucks are in, not a rebuild but not competitive. Winning draft lotto would have went a long ways to helping them out.

It all depends, to me demoting Podz and Hogs seems more like "We've given up and don't think they're going to be in our plans going forwards, so why not dump them on Abbotsford while we see if anyone might be willing to give us assets for them" than actual development. It's not as if they haven't had a lot of chances in the NHL. |

It would be the Canuck way to give up on them far too early.
I'm not sure what you think a lot of chances are but 100-150 nhl games isn't a lot of chances to me. Barely even starting out. Another two seasons before I'd decide whether or not they are in the plans or not. |
