1st up is what team would move a quality D? Then move on to the cost.
Who is that? - Nighthawk
An RFA. Won't be cheap. If you can't develop one you buy one.

Nobody could have predicted Chatfield would be an NHL player. He is still fringe imo. What exactly does Podkolzin do well? Also, a pretty strange comp - CanuckDon
Well I agree wih Mini on this stop trading 22-year-olds for old garbage. Wait until the players are 24 or older before calling them busts.

Canucks have built their core with draft picks already at C & D & G with Petey, Hughes, and Demko.
They have picked up young players like Bloom Ratty Bains Aman. They have further along players like Podz Hog and Silovs.
I don't see a need to draft another Raty or Hirose at number 11. I see a need to get a player much like what NYI did with their 13 th last year. That is my take anyways. - VANTEL
If we pick at 11 has to be a C with top 6 ceiling. Don’t see top 4 D being there. Not a C there for us then safe pick is D but they will be there in the 11-18 range imo. Also don’t see any D that’ll be ready soon to be a big impact. Simashev I keep coming back to.
So back to what you said package the 1st for D or a trade down & maybe add a winger for the right return. |

Chatfield has the benefit of deep D ahead of him.
Pod hasn’t been consistent & yet to find an identity. His skill set says he should be a menace puck hound with a motor that doesn’t quit & shows up every game. Burrowsesque |

I could see Bahl being shopped. LA is up against the cap and may not be able to give a few RFAs proper cap.

Byram LHD OS 5/6.3m cost a 1st/3rd
That takes some cap out & eating the hit somehow. Ballsy & bold. |

Yeah. It looked fine at the time but hindsight once again proves us wrong on all levels.
McCann was an absolute ass when he was here but then he grew up and wow what a good player. He did not fit the Country Club but now he has started his own in Seattle.

22 year old six foot six , 220 lbs. When I seen him play he is always strong on the body. I don't know what you guys are expecting at Draft spot 11. I would say another Lickhermaki type or Hirose type of D. The top players will be gone. Yes now and then you hit on a McCann or a Boldy after top 10 but most times you will get a Fabro or Gaunce.
Lets face it I am not as high on the draft as you guys are outside the top five.

On OEL this season will be a defining season as a Canuck one way or the other. Either his knee & mobility are greatly improved or a buyout looms very large in 2024. Just my take on him. This season we should improve considering how bad everything went last season it can only do that. The PK alone at 32nd & 31st the season before was an anchor. - Nighthawk
I agree. I think management is going to hold onto OEL for this next year in hopes he can rebound into a serviceable defenseman. If not, I think he'll get the press box and bought out next year. But if he can rebound into an NHL player, it helps a lot.
I think Myers is the guy who moves after July 1. That $1m cash to $6m cap hit is actually good news for poorer teams. I think he can be moved for a lottery ticket of some sort or maybe a bottom of the line up player who makes a lot less.
Make a Garland trade happen and suddenly the future is a bit brighter. |

Benning is the the first GM you call for a trade if he's ever lucky enough to land another NHL gig. |

Columbus are getting into a Benning like term.
First and two seconds for Povorov. Laine for PLD. Gudbrandson 4 x 4.
That would be my go to trade team or any Hextall team.

Are those the same fans or the other set of fan boys that have been crying over Jared McCann this season? I can never tell which set of fan boys are whining about what. |

Donna makes a "he will never play in the NHL" comment about a prospect or two and they end up being very good NHL players down the road. Every year. |

It’s not that I’m high on draft as much as there will be some very good prospects that could pan out very well. On Bahl if he doesn’t have real top 4 ceiling I don’t see using a 1st on him. I’m for Ceulemans or something like that. Mini probably has more D in mind or someone else does. Just pick Simashev or Willander |

I honestly don't know how a 22 year old will be like when he is 26. Every time I have seen him play he seemed to use his size. What I remember is he always played tough. I haven't seen many NJD games this year so I can't say exactly how he would do.
I don't think Simashev or any top D man will be available at 11. I don't see a need for a smaller ASP |

His development got franked sitting on the bench in Russia, they did it on purpose because he wanted to come over sooner. |
