The Myers to Chicago scenario. Chicago has signed for this season on the right side
Jones
Murphy
Zaitsev
RFA Ian Mitchell also requires waivers.
To me Garland makes more sense to be added to the trade scenario that's been talked about. If I was Van though I would be asking for a prospect back in return though. Ludwinski or Dach probably. Need better forwards than they have to make Bedard not ask for a trade after one season. |

Even if so, it will be short lived. Book it.

Yes, absolutely!! They should use all their available tools to try and get better so they can support their good young players. The only thing I caution against, which I don't believe they subscribe to, is not drafting at all. As in, trade away their first round pick for immediate help, that's a big no-no.
Trade up using a player and the 11th, yes, trade back and acquire a later first and a second round pick, sure....just don't trade away your future for right now. |

I just want to see a measured increase in progress towards becoming a better team. That starts with Rick Tocchet and filters down through to the players. Not in just points but how they play the game structurally and how they interact with each other to form a team.
We'll see what they look like when the end of August rolls around... |

THN Draft Rankings, strange?
https://thehockeynews.com...ft-rankings-the-final-cut - VanHockeyGuy
After the first two kids I'm reading the next ten could go in any order it's such a deep draft. Because of that I think you'll see a lot of teams draft for need in those spots. |

THN Draft Rankings, strange?
https://thehockeynews.com...ft-rankings-the-final-cut - VanHockeyGuy
After the top 3 anyone’s list is as good as the next. A very deep draft & so many questions on who will pick whom. I’m sure Bedard Fantilli Carlson & Moore are gone top 5 if not top 4. After that team scouts & needs will begin dictate. No matter I still don’t see D going quick & maybe 1 before 11th. If wrong then we’ll get a very good prospect maybe a C like Moore hopefully. |

Being the cost to move cap isn’t the best idea for us Garland could be a buyout if cannot find a reasonable trade. |

Sounds about right to me. It’s a large tier of prospects after the top 4-5. |

No reason in the world to buy out Garland. He is very tradable even if it is for a later draft pick.
Your answer is staring you right in the face. B/O OEL save 7 mil this year and 4.9 next year. Who cares aboout a 2 mil cap hit in five years from now when the cap in at 90 mil plus. |

Problem is, there's no guarantee that it's going to go up that much by then, it's been flat for the past 4 years and the players still owe a ton of money in escrow that they need to pay off before the cap can go up like it used to before. |

The flat rate was there for the pandemic and the escrow. Both will be over by next year. From everything I have heard once the escrow is gone it will go up by 7 mil. I believe that esrow clause of paying back was a five year agreement which is over next year?
The league made a bundle last year , time for an increase. |

Don’t get me wrong but it’s the cap hit in years 3 & 4 that are the hang up. The 8yrs I can live with. The cap will begin to increase significantly next year & beyond & we can maybe manage resigning Petey & Hronek but that’s about it. So we will stagnate to a degree with no cap space. In that time we will start filling the prospect cupboard but they will need time to develop.
So stepping back back to the now we will be heavily reliant on current players to improve more than incrementally & prospects in the system to make big strides to crack the roster & be legit upgrades. That puts it on Hoglander D Petey Karlsson Klimovich etc to impact in a meaningful way. Silovs I’m high on & in goal we are looking great.
If RT & co can change the team into a better consistent group helps the most. |
