Wow. Then, yeah. We should go offer him a bunch of money. And hookers. - Monkeypunk
Thing is I don't know that there's enough money in the world you can realistically offer that Dundon won't match.
He's been trying for years to convince Eric to join one of his other companies and make him some REAL cash.

Is Muzzins contract insured?
Schmaltz is making 8.5m each year for 3 years.
Is there any way you trade them Murray and Muzzin plus a decent asset for Schmaltz?
They add 4M to the cap and save 2.5M.
Or they buy him out and they save even more? - Santo_44
Muzzin's would be absolutely insured. He didn't have any pre-existing condition prior to signing his contract. That Nathan Horton contract, as an example - they knew he had a bad neck problem and signed him anyway - after the insurance company told them they couldn't insure the contract.
It's plausible that you could swing a deal with Arizona if they promised Murray they were buying him out - assuming he still believes he can bet on himself.
If I were his agent I'd veto the move based on the fact that he'll get $5.3m of his $8m over two years, and then he would have to spend years as a league minimum goalie re-establishing himself - if he ever could. The odds of him getting that $8m are best if he stands pat this year and then then goes league minimum deals following that.
Let's say he remains injury prone, you'd have $5.3 + let's say 3 years of league min to retirement - he basically ends up with $8m when he retires. Or $8m + 2 years of league min - gets him to about $10m.
Or the worst case scenario: He takes the buyout and no one except Buffalo wants him. |

I'd just go with this:
President and GM = Shanny
AGM (and heir apparent) = Tulsky
AGM (capologist extraordinaire) = Pridham
Shanahan can lean hard on his AGM's per trades and make the ultimate decisions.
Once Tulsky has additional AGM experience with the Leafs he takes the role.
Treliving sounds like a lock though. Sigh. - mjones242
I don't like or agree with Shanahan's wanting the new GM to be experienced. But if they want that, then make that the AGM.
Tulsky GM and hire Trelving AGM (if no one else does as their GM). |

Seriously BINGO. Everyone knows he's a cheap-ass. It's why he wouldn't match the lowball offer to Aho by Montreal a few yea . . . what?

So would the skill level in the VHL be about the same as the ECHL if the KHL is about the same as the AHL or would it be better/worse? I have a vague feel for the KHL in the passing sense that we see how some of their guys translate over here, but that's about it.
I've tried watching it but the quality of the feed I've received is . . sort of like being transported back to the 80's. Not to mention I can't understand a goddamned thing anyone says nor do I know who anyone is. - Monkeypunk
I think the K and A are similar. Problem is the size of the rink. ECHL is probably better than the V. VHL is a low scoring league filled with poopty guys who can't make the K or are the overagers out of the MHL. |

If that was Canada, it would just be Slapshot, the league.
Thanks!

2M in year 2 of that buyout isn't fun - especially when you have some big contracts that need to be re-upped.
Frankly, I would keep him and deal him at the TDL if need be. Maybe he bounces back or maybe he can be placed on LTIR.
A buyout should be the last option to explore. - mjones242
Ya, it'd suck but the Cap is up another ~4M over whatever this years will be so there's a little wiggle room. Plus Woll is giving you great value for another 2 years.
If there's a team willing to take him at something reasonable then I'm in.
Hard to guess the cost but Mrazek cost ~ 2nd rounder. Marleau cost a 1st. Something in that range I would think.
I'm not sure anybody would go into next year with Murray and Woll as the pairing ..that's a lot of injury worries. |

Seems doubtful he would want to play for ARZ for a year...
but also the alternative is being the 3rd goalie and being sent to the Marlies.
If he has a healthy year somewhere else and gets .900 SV% he is back to a 1.5-2M goalie. |

kweef is a poopty coach🤦♂️
over the years, there were several examples during the regular season where he didn’t have the team ready to play🤦🏿♂️
this was highlighted during his yearly playoff failures🤦♂️
i couldn’t figure out why he and kylie were still employed years ago 🤦🏿♂️
if shammy keeps kweef after all of this we’ll know for sure that he’s been part of the problem🤦♂️
shammy didn’t give me much confidence with his presser saying that he wanted to resign kylie🤦🏿♂️
plus his filler word, “umm”🤦♂️
plus there’s reports that he’s planning to run it back🤦🏿♂️
i don’t know of the validity but if that’s the case, we’ll see more of the same🤦🏿♂️
bargain bin shopping for grown men rentals in the bottom 6, good regular season, epic failure in the playoffs😭
ZERO continuity or team building🤦🏿♂️ |

He knows the Leafs won't place him with the Marlies. That's about 3.7M in lost cap space to them.
His agent and the Leafs know it's trade (if it works for both) or buyout. Maybe to sweeten the trade, the Leafs could even eat a portion of the contract (say $1M) to avoid the $2M penalty next year if they went buyout.
I'm sure they'll push every trade opportunity possible before the buyout period in June. |

I'd recommend kumquats for that. Not only are they a nutritious sweet and sour flavour explosion, but they keep the packages moving like FedEx Priority Overnight.

I’d be ok with Treliving. He put together a good team in Calgary. I think he got a great return for tkachuk under the circumstances. Their goaltending imploded last season and the players quit on sutter. Hiring sutter was his worst mistake. - shack67
what were the circumstances?

Canes and Panthers were in a bidding war.
Canes best offer was Necas, Jarvis, Bear, 2nd.
Calgary decided they liked Huberdeau, Weegar and a 1st better.
