Boston is (frank)ing nuts with how many 'ships they've seen over 20 years in the big 4 sports.
Like are people even watching them anymore? Be like "naw im too tired from the other parade to go to this one". |

VKG is the only team that’s gonna be able to solve Bob because they’ve got four lines and elite talent up front and that might not even be enough… |

So let me get this straight, Leafs are going after the GM that traded Thachuk and then his team missed the playoffs. And mean while the team that got Thachuk is going to the Stanley Cup Finals???
Sure, that logic checks out.
PS, the Bennett hit looked clean. It was a hard ass hit but it was clean IMO. Could use a guy on the Leafs that drops the shoulder in the middle of the chest like that. |

Shanny will hire a GM that has his view on hte direction of the team - Azuredoom
Shanny is going to hire who is available. I don't love the way this team is managed, in terms of the roster construction, and how this whole Dubas-Shanahan has gone down. It's (frank)ing bush league, to be frank. |

When I was younger I used to grumble and complain that the NHL was fixed. As I got older it seemed more implausible if not outright impossible for it to be so. Too many refs. Too many people involved. Someone would spill.
And yet this year. This year literally feels obvious when you watch the way refs call games. This is a total poopshow. |

Do you think it be better if they let all four refs make calls? |

I posted a last week, it sure feels like the wheels fell off the bus.
I have a sneaking feeling this team is going to take a huge step backwards next year. I just see too much mess to clean up and most of the moves are going to be risky AF. It's not like we need to just shore up the D and add a piece to the bottom 6.

Sign star player
Trade 1 or 2 core players...maybe
Sign goalie
Find 5 other forwards to fill out the line up
Tweak the defense with a player or two
Jesus (frank), that's a lot.

At the very least have all 4 confer after a play (that wasn't a trip, or player X wasn't the aggressor in that play, or he just fell . . .). I'd rather an unnecessary stoppage than a bullpoop or incorrect penalty assessed.
I'd still rather an eye in the sky / earpiece approach because these guys on the ice are terrible more often than not.
Why are some games no penalties and some games all penalties? Why are some games so many chincy things but ignore dangerous things? Like it's totally inconsistent and frustrating.

Bennett just hit Slavin in the head.
Can't wait to see him get nothing for it. - GreatGigInTheSky
Hopefully Bennett gets on ice spleen surgery at some point. When it happens, I'll do a happy dance.

Idk. I’m more glass half full.
When they trade Nylander and let the rest of the fat underbelly walk in free agency, this team will look a lot different.
A full season of Woll and Knies is something to get excited about too.
A new GM is going to have his own players who he wants on the team who we don’t know about yet. |

Didn't like the hit at all. Took several strides and targeted the player's head. Tkachuk got a little taste of payback. There is no clean way to protect against those hits by Bennett and Gudas. Maybe take the butt end of your stick and brace it about belly high. Those hits will quiet down.

I really believe what this team needed most was a culture change, and a GM who isn’t committed to the “core four.”
A lot of promises were made (bad idea) by Dubas, and it hurt the team, imo.
Main issue for the Leafs is that there’s ZERO toughness in the top 6. Can’t win like that.
Unfortunately the Leafs have very little in terms of prospects because Doobie (frank)ed all that up (No one ever seems to talk about this) so I think moving one of the core 4 for a young middle 6 fwd and a top ten pick in this years draft would be something they need to consider.
Maybe Philly or the Caps (who might be in more of a quick rebuild mode) would consider this option. The Leafs can afford to take a step back as long as they make the playoffs. |

He’s going to want 10+ mil.
He can’t play C, kill penalties, block shots etc.
He gets his cookies, but the top 6 needs to get tougher. He’s the obvious choice.
