I don't know but I'm about done defending it.
BTW Komarov is not eligible for the AHL next year unless the KHL loaned him to the Q - TheSabresTaco
So another year in the Q. Could do him well getting more acclimated to the NA game.

Top prospects beating AHL filled rosters. Its great but it isn't the NHL.
Those guys could takeover Okposo's role but wouldn't be as effective.
There really is no problem with this signing.
1 more year at his role isn't blocking these prospects if they're good enough.
The pay is irrelevant.
The "vibes" continue. - DirtyDan
Agreed. Olofsson and Jost are the likely spots for Savoie and Kulich. Rousek replaces Girgensons
Now we'll see if they actually do it |

Are you sure? I haven't looked into it, but without a transfer agreement between the leagues, I'm not sure why a loan would be applicable.
He's listed at being drafted out of the Q, so I lean that way. Just not sure. |

I wonder if Olofsson will be here next year.
He's got next to no trade value, and he's not walking away from 4.75 mil to go to sweden |

Why does he have no trade value?
20-30goal guy. Career .63ppg. Someone would value him. Especially if we retain. IMO. |

Problem is VO wasn't in the lineup, so it doesn't get you a lineup spot.
Maybe they'd be fine with Rousek as 13F, but their rotations last year were a big problem and did more harm than good.

Yes. Yes he was. Him and Jost swapped the last few games. |

I still find this hard to believe. Some team should be able to make room in the bottom-six for a PP trigger man. I'm not saying they'd get anything really good, but some team somewhere could use that. |

Yeah, you're right. He and Jost were kinda changed out at times. Idk
Trade Mittelstadt and UPL for Hellebuyck (I will stop)

They've been shopping him for a while now, no takers. Nobody cares about the ppg if the player offers negative value when he's not in the act of shooting.
Thats the misconception with offensive players. Tage is a liability in his own end, but when he's not scoring, he can still do a fair bit in terms of playmaking or puck possession. Ditto Skinner.
But olofsson doesn't offer anything outside of his shot. He's not much of a playmaker, he's not strong on the puck, he doesn't shoot for volume. It's not that he's useless but his value is so niche that unless he's replacing a total liability in the lineup, you almost certainly lose that swap. |

Not only does this signing not plug up the lineup for the long term. It adds depth. PlayerX gets hurt you can plug one of these young kids in.
injuries are inevitable - DirtyDan
Yeah injuries happen. Hopefully he works out. I don't like the signing because this team is built on speed. If they were gonna bring one back I would have preferred the other one, atleast he can kinda skate still. |

The value in having a PP trigger man who cant do anything else on said PP isn't all that great. And if he's getting 10-12 mins of EV where he's actively hurting you, there isn't much value added back in the 1-2 mins pp time he gets on average.
Truth is what's actually buried his value is that they benched him during the most important part of the season. That doesn't go unnoticed. |

Heard they could have moved Olofsson at the TDL, but they kept him because of Tuch. |

I get it - and he makes a good amount of money in a cap crunch era. Maybe there will be no takers but I think there could be a fit somewhere for a low-scoring team/bad PP team that doesn't have a shooter on the right side of the PP and could either absorb his cap hit or trade a decent d man in return
I am retired and I don't feel like doing the research to see if such a team exists |

VO not actually being good on the PP is a well kept secret around here.
Always looks good the first month, but the league adjusts quickly the second time around.

yeah there's that too. The other thing is some of the data is now showing for most teams an 11/7 lineup is more optimal, which just leaves one less bottom six spot for Olofsson to take up on whatever team tries to add him. |

Those 3 playing well the rest of the way would put a lot of pressure on KA. Rosen gets no mention, but 2 years post draft, he really should.

Im told post WJC, he has the best on ice expected goals against of any of their forwards.
He's actually been really good, even if the scoring isnt always there. |

Maybe they have to retain. I just have a hard time believing there's no market for a 28-goal scorer and I'm acutely aware of his overall game |

After a glance at just FA:
Goodrow
Foligno
J Staal
Compher - washedup20
Only want computer out of that group. The rest are easy nos |

Something needs to give this offseason. Can only buy so much time before starting to make some of these decisions.
