Florida had gotten to the point of their development that all of their best players were veterans as of last year and won the President's Trophy because of the core they built AND the additions they complimented with. They turned core draft pieces Huberdeau and Weeger into Tkachuk. Barkov and Ekblad are core draft pieces. They made a large series of fantastic signings and trades, but most importantly, they're mostly all late 20's.
Their future was heavily mortgaged using a ton of picks in trades, and a lot of those guys have been worth it. Who knows what this team looks like in 3-4 years when our ages match what the Panthers have now. Zito has been very aggressive and he dragged them all the way to the final.
kevo will probably need to be more aggressive especially in about 2 years when a majority of this team at least starts their prime.
There's more than one way to skin a whale, but the constant for the cup has always been a talented, diverse veteran lineup. - TheSabresTaco

There was more smoke than what covered the east coast with Buffalo and Anahiem discussing Gibson last season...it's a Beane move that Adams uses to make it look like he's trying.
Same with Murray at the beginning of this past season.
I have been preaching this logjam of prospects who all play similar styles is going to catch up to Adams, who moves at a snails pace.
The draft positions will hold no value in trade negotiations for these players as it will be obvious to the league that the Sabres have a surplus and need to move guys out.
I want him to make moves yesterday but there are no real indicators showing that to be the case....I would love to be wrong about this. - washedup20
Hang tight. You have Dahlin done, you work on Power, you know what you have to spend down the line.
Sure you might have prospects either unable to push vets out, or prospects pushing vets out. The league will see the Sabres needing to make a move, but if the player is good (and cheap) there will be bidding wars. I'm not worried about the log jam, I'm certain Kev isn't either. You deal with it when the time comes. And it is coming.
It's the best way to get real, honest impact players. He wants a consistent pipeline and he can have it, while also using some player assets as soon as this season to get some real guys.

What he needs to do now is get the RD/G
What he may need to do in a couple years is start using multiple 1st round picks on vets, which is what I meant above. |

He will because he needs to. There's only so much room on the roster and you can't walk into next season status quo and say "we want to win, too". - TheSabresTaco
Olofsson seems obvious, bryson seems obvious
Girgensons looking like a goner.
No more vinny hinny
Sounds like upl is disliked.
Maybe joker
I'm talking about mitts, krebs, and the big 4 forward prospects. Savoie, kulich, rosen and ostlund.
I just dont see any one of them being traded this offseason. This big splash move....
In a perfect world the Sabres would trade one for an equal quality defenseman or goalie. |

Mittlestadt is going to get a 2 year deal like olofsson for okay money. Adams likes him.
And I don’t think we move Bryson.

The Terry bashing has really died down since the team decided it didn't want to be a (frank)ing dumpster fire anymore. Oh, and he stayed out of the (frank)ing way. - TheSabresTaco
winning tends to do that for a team.

Right on time for Kulich, Savoie, Rosen, 13th OA to do his role for a margin of the cost.

We could put a right handed stick on a pylon and it would have the same result as Bryson.

I think mitts get a long term 5 or 6 million for 5 or 6 years.

As much as I disliked Middle-fat for his entire stay with us, last year was a fast improvement for him. If he can get me 50-60 pts as a 3rd line center, and clean up his game defensively I would have no problem if GMKA offers him a 6-7 year 6 large contract.
Basically Rhino but cheaper.

So one of the best defensive forwards in the sport with Point per game upside ?
You’re either overrating Mitts or underrating Sam |

Can use him as an own rental.
Has one year left on his deal, perhaps he agrees to a 2-3 year extension which keeps him in Buffalo for 3-4 more years and is the stop gap for the wave of young talent to come through the organization.
Is a borderline top 6 forward a guy you should be handing out term too ? |

If I were Mittelstadt, I would not agree to a short term extension. He's never going to get a 2nd line center shot here. He should be trying to get that Kevin Hayes paycheck |

Yes, but make the decision, either he's part of your core or you sell high on him and try and use him to improve your team in a weak area D. |
