I think a lot of that blows up when you reach on a G in the 2nd. Feels like there's some heavily analytics influenced picks and others with little to none. Imagine Brad Pitt trying to keep the scouts happy in Moneyball. - Lunaion
Yeah it does feel that way. Honestly even the ostlund pick felt like that. |

They put out a strange message. KA listens to everyone, and if you bang the table, you'll get your way. Consensus sounds great, but when it comes to draft picks, I doubt there actually is.

Exactly his basic goalie technic isn’t good - Sabretooth9
Well if the Sabres were to cut down those High Danger shots, or the constant player or players reading the paper in front or to the side of his crease. Be a lot less chance of him getting those big feet tangled up. Sabres just play better overall team defense and I bet his numbers improve. |

They drafted the best goalie in the draft 1 or 2 rounds early. I don’t think it’s a big deal …… NHL draft said. If it was the NFL ….. yeah I could see that being a terrible pick
The draft had no other goalie that was close to the guy we drafted |

This is a bad take! Horrible asset management then, especially when Luneau was sitting there. Plus Casey, Kyrou, Salomonsson.
Luneau would have finished are Top 4 of for atleast the next 7yrs. All 25 and younger. |

I don't believe this is true of their drafting. I just think theyve got so many different schools of thought handling the draft that the drafting might be a bit all over the place. I don't hate it in theory, but I don't want the same guys responsible for the previous era of draft picks making them now.

In most rankings, including central scouting, he was the #2 G.

How a couple of the guys have managed to remain on their staff, despite the horrible drafting track record, is mystifying. |

I do wonder if that might be because, for a while there, nobody wanted these jobs.(nobody who has options because they are good)
If they are re-upped i'll be a little pissed. |

I have no idea who is good or not on their staff, but the fact that Darcy hired Jason Nightingale to handle analytics and he's still here in another role is strange.

I dont even think hes an analytics guy, I just think they wanted a guy to say they had one and he was the only guy with the technical skills.
Surprised Botterill never wanted to bring someone in. |

Didn't Nightingale technically get demoted a while back? |

Sounds like Adams gave him that job as a bridge between Ventura and the scouting department with Forton. |

I don't think so. He's benefitting greatly from the Knights defense, I mean the Panthers have a whopping 17 SOG with 5 minutes left |

I know Chad dropped this a few days ago. Lots of Money but if he continues on his trajectory this will be a bargain in a couple years.
Makes Power even more intriguing, probably have to hope Adams can get him signed long term. |
