Power isn’t a RFA now. Chances are he gets better puck luck next season.
I can’t fathom a reason Power signs now as opposed to a year from now. It makes 0 sense - sbroads24
His usage is mostly capped out though. Its not one of the circumstances where you say "next year he'll get PP time so hes better off waiting". He's got exactly as much special teams time as he is ever likely to get playing here. Ditto 3 on 3. His value to the team is more or less established. The only way to really increase his number/overall cap hit percentage is if he eclipsed dahlin in some way next year, which is a tall order.
It’s team friendly if he’s worth more 2-3 years from
Now when the cap matters to us. - sbroads24
Yep. If he is worth more than that 2-3 years from now then it would be. It's not 2-3 years from now right now and he isn't worth that right now. Right now 8x8 is not team friendly, it's actually quite player friendly if you ask me.

So Power should want to sign a team friendly long term deal 1 year into his career a year before the flat cap rises because he might get hurt?
People should prepare for a bridge. Power has no motivation to do an 8 year deal with us this offseason - sbroads24
Like I said, I can see both strategies.
From the side of the Sabres, I would want to lock him up long-term and avoid getting completely screwed in 2 or 3 years. In my world, that means paying him him pretty solid value during that longer term. Say ~$7.5m × 5 years, and $11m for 3.
From Power's side I can see betting on himself. But with that, do the Sabres pay him more than Dahlin's $10m per, or even $11m (= Dahlin's 12% of Cap x say $89m after 2 more seasons).
He is a 10.2c p,ayers after next season, meaning he can only negotiate with the Sabres...that is very strick organizational control, and very much restricts Power's negotiating strengths if they wanted to be Richards in negotiations (think CBJ historically).
I really don't get giving up all these assets for Hart
just sign Tristan Jarry and keep the assets
or one of the cane goalies
or adin hill
or korpisalo - homiedclown
Agree but we would then have 4 goalies. Comrie you can send down to the AHL and if he gets claimed, so what. UPL would have to be traded cuz having 3 goalies on the active roster, like last year, is less than ideal

There are tradeoffs. - IonSabres
That's not Vibey!! It's gonna come down to what Power wants. Maybe he's Happy and really likes the Organization and says you know what how about 8 × 8.5 Avv and let's go win some Cups. Or I am gonna take another year to think on this.

I don't see the landscape changing for him in a year. Strange to go long term after a year, but it just kind of lines up for everyone.
