Not consequential, or inconsequential is a wild word to use there. - kingcong39
Teams don't miss the playoffs because they have the wrong 3rd pair d-man with the worst puck luck in the nhl.
they miss it because that d-man is forced to play above what hes capable of and the guy in net is swiss cheese.
Literally every team has at least 3 guys that make you scratch your head regarding their play. |

I do think they matter. Even if you think the are minor, they add up. - Lunaion
No team in the league operates this efficiently. They are more interested in favours than doing so.

They operated below the cap floor with a bargain basement third pair + goaltending. They were being cheap and non-committal. Nothing to do with efficiency.

No i meant, nobody in the nhl puts together a roster efficiently to the point where even their lower end guys are exceptional value or whatever. Not that the roster here was efficient. |

Marc Stall makes Risto look like Chris Pronger.
They were then carried to the playoffs by Alex Lyon because their $10M goaltender couldn’t stop a beachball and the goalie they picked 13th overall loves the coco.
Then said $10M goaltender comes in half way through the first round and stands on his Richard saving nearly 18 goals over expected the rest of the way through.
Good on Bill Zito for being ahead of the curve I guess and predicting this goalie bender |

Great on Bill Zito for trading for Matthew Tkachuk. |

Fwiw, another good example of what i meant. They sold high on Huberdeau before they got caught paying for all those secondary assists, now it's calgary's problem.
A move that will have far greater consequences than the growing number of staals on their team. |

I would keep Lyubushkin to compete as a 6/7 and lop off the other three (Bryson, Jokiharju and Stillman). They can do so much better |

Curious if the current Sabres management will have similar or the same guts with Tuch after the 24-25 season, if the current Sabres management is still with the team at that point. |

How are they similar? Tuch will be making less than 5 mil until the end of 25-26 and was 95th percentile in WAR?
Huberdeau's last year in FLA he was 82nd percentile and 6th percentile in defensive WAR. Basically olofsson. |

I'll rephrase. Henri Jokiharju is Casey Nelson or Chad Ruhwedel - Hank Balling

I'm with you. Would love 2 moves, worried they'll make none, content with 1.

What's ur thoughts on Joel edmudston Montreal
Cap $ 3.5 million
Salary $ 1.5 million
One year

Lyubushkin had the worst numbers of that bunch, stillman's were good in the small sample. But Im 99% sure someone will be acquired to play above Joker.
Johnson will likely beat out the other lefties at some point too, maybe even at the start. I dont think he's going to Roch. |

Johnson will go to Roch due to his contract I would think.
I’m expecting him to be playing games for us though by end of year |

I dont have an opinion on him personally. Evolving hockey's stats don't seem to like him

I dont think his contract has any bearing on it. From what I've been told, the thinking is he's nhl ready. |

Chris Butler was at least kind of tough, wasn't he?
Jokiharju is just there... he's not really good at anything and he doesnt bring any personality to the table. He's just a guy |

Im just playing the “numbers game” so to speak.

I think you'll see two subtractions from the bottom 4. Probably bryson, maybe jokiharju too depending on his trade value. |
