Fun question: Will Jiri Kulich's stock ever be higher then it is right now, as a prospect, and maybe even as a player, in terms of trade value to another team? - kingcong39
yes, likely in his 2nd year on the Sabres full time.

They'd be negligent if they didn't.
I personally don't think the player and his demands are a fit, but what do I know.
Go get talent.

Bravo.
Mitts seems like a perfect example, he finally has positive trade value and IF he doesn't regress, will likely cost substantially higher contract wise. He becomes a primary target to replace with a high- end NHL-ready player like Kulich.
Same with a younger player as a trade target, Krebs before he needs a new contract.
Sabres will likely need to use a top prospect and pick to secure that Top4 D though. - IonSabres
Look at the returns for:
Jakob Chychrun, Shayne Gostisbehere, Filip Hronek, Vladislav Gavrikov, Mattias Ekholm, Rasmus Sandin, Jake McCabe, Dmitry Orlov and Ethan Bear
Anything higher than the Sens 1st (12OA)?

When he's a 20-20 3rd line staple?
Do you see a spot for him in the next 2-3 years on either of the Sabres top 2 lines? |

Sure. Don't think there's a clear front runner between Mitts, JJ, Savoie, and Kulich to play in the top 6. Quinn is less than a 100% lock too. If everyone stays around, there's competition for those roles.

top 3? Sure.

Kulich-Savoie-Rosen

Use Mitts, Krebs, Ostlund, Rosen, Kulich as trade chips in the upcoming years. And what becomes of all of our Russians? And 13th OA this year? The best stay, the guys who fall behind go.
Pretty impressive system. Makes you really want to draft, say, Shimashev, Willander, Reinbacher or Sandin Pellikka.

Are you waiting the 2 to 3 years it will likely take to figure that out, or are you striking while the iron is hot if needed to make a big move and include one of these forward prospects?
I think I already know your answer.
We haven't even included Rosen or if they take a forward at 13 overall into the forward blender above. |

It's very difficult to find a defenseman worth an A prospect. Teams don't trade them. Seth Jones was your closest bet and he expected a ludicrous contract. |

I wouldn't use them to trade for a defenseman.
I'd use them to trade for a true high impact forward already established at the NHL level.
One that already has hit a level as high as the prospects may ever hit, if not higher. |

valid, but in a trade like that, they lose a top pairing d man and a top line forward.
I'm not opposed.. I think something could be found. But in that case you definitely need... the WTBH factor.

JP Barry already said Pettersson wants to be in Van long term. I dont recall Tkachuk ever saying that in the lead up to his trade. |
