Pettersson, Keller, Konecny three excellent yet very different targets brought up yesterday.
But what's the cost?
Konekny should be the cheapest given a mix of factors, including: his Age (26), Position (RW), Production (31/30/61; career highest achieved, albeit in only 60 games) and having 2 years of Contract Term at reasonable $5.5m. He produced nicely at 1.0 PPG pace and did so with less than stellar linemates, but with a pretty high 18.2%, a full 4% higher than career average (that equates to +7.6 G's). Doesn't take ton of penalties, 77 PIM the last 2 years (1 penalty every 2.5 games), but edgy enough.
Keller's cost should be in the middle between Konekny and Pettersson. Soon to be Age 25, playing at Position of LW, with Production of 37/49/86 in 82 games with only 20 on the PP, he produced at 1.0 PPG pace for 2nd season in a row after increasing his ATOI from <17 to >20. While enjoying a 16.6% Shot Percentage, it has been on an upward trajectory for each of his 5 full seasons. Very gifted Offensively, could use a bit more defensive awareness to improve effectiveness. Keller has a very, very attractive Contract at $7.15m for next 5 years.
Elias Pettersson, age 24-1/2, playing Center and with Production at 39/63/102 for 1.275 PPG pace should be the most costly to acquire and retain as his current contract of $7.3m expires at the end of the upcoming season...which should results in a expensive contract in the $10m -$11m range (+,-). He has a very consistent Shot % between 15.2 and 19.4, averaging ~16.1%.
So put your GM hat on...
What are you as Kevyn Adams prepared to pay for each. |

well I dont think Pettersson is available but Keller' cost is 13th + Peterka + something else
I dont think they'd do that given the priority is D and G but I'd entertain it.

If there's better veteran leadership around, maybe Jack + Sam work out here. - Lunaion
ROR was supposed to provide that leadership as well. Whatever happened, Jack won that riff |

Well if you start hearing about a Dawkins and White and Taron reworks in the next few days. Then the Bills are maneuvering. |

We need help in net, at defense, and we need to get grittier. We're already the 3rd leading offense, while our 2nd and 3rd lines will improve and take the offense even higher. So the oblivious solution is to pay a kings ransom for Pettersson, then sign him to a contract bigger than any of the players we just signed. Priceless |

If someone offers a 5th for him, logically the Sabres should make him 1C next year and get a top 5 positional player for next season. - washedup20

I'm a big Peterka fan, but I'd make that deal, as I feel they need one more high end forward to complete that core, and being able to do that at the ability, age and contract of Keller would be too difficult to pass up. |
