Severson isn't a top pair dman but is a good middle pair and very good bottom pair
Previously he was tasked with too much but handled it well, if in right position he is effective
He is a 2 way dman not an offensive dman but will help on offense but not a stay at home but is reliable and responsible for the most part - dmarsden2988
He's a popular target here. If you wait until 7/1 and don't get him, you're in some trouble. I'd go the trade route personally.

Cap space is at a premium again, really is a great opportunity to make a big improvement. Little frustrated that they passed on it last year, now is the time. - Lunaion
They tried to with one team last year but didnt work out. A few teams tight against the cap that might move a d-man I could see them being interested in. |

Sabres could marginally do 2 hauls and still be in decent shape. - Buff36
Yeah, I get that part. But how many more times can you restructure a deal till you are stuck? |

Trying is fine, but need to get things done now.

The job market is littered with former GM's who tried hard and almost had some great deals get completed.
All that matters is what deals actually end up getting done. |

Ottawa was better off not making a single trade though too.
Sometimes the best moves is none at all.

Thats the opposite extreme though. They could have made a series of smart moves. Inactivity may be better than going nuts, but it doesn't mean it's good. |

i suspect if they do that one will be for a defender the other a goalie - Michael Ghofrani
I hate to say it but from gerbe said and how they handled Levi I don’t think they feel as strongly about G as we do. They will/should shore up 4D and maybe some up front pkers. I fully expect them to roll Levi/UPL. And I’m not happy about it |

Idk where that sentiment comes from. I know Gerbe knows people, but the people I talk to, and even the ones on twitter who have broken stuff in the past, are 100% sure they'll make a play for goaltending.
The one thing Im confident in is it definitely won't be UPL. They've never been high on him. KA and friends inherited him. His call up wasn't earned, and the only reason he didnt go back down was cause Comrie's lingering injury and Anderson being 80. |

I was pulling for him, but he had way too many head scratches

I agree with all of this. Maybe it’s just my disdain for the way they have treated goaltending the past few years. I hope they address it. Even if it’s a vet bandaide (not Anderson vet). |

His injuries have ruined most goalies careers. I think it ruined his too. If he ever had one |

You know where there’s minimal risk? Doing nothing and always promising that 2 years down the road is going to be the best |

I just chalk it up to things changing. I doubt all these things are unanimous in the front office. Have to think there's still some people who do have an attachment to UPL.
Levi + UPL seems like an insane risk to me and not the partner a rookie needs or the team deserves.
