That's what I thought, his actual Salary is only 5 mill the last year. - Buff36
It goes up and down...to make it difficult to buyout in the years that are the most attractive to do so, normally |

His contract was front loaded a bit, even his 2nd last year is 7mill actual Salary. |

I might be a bit cynical but, I think it needs to happen summer 2025. That's when they'll be right in the heart of their window and feel the cap squeeze. - Michael Ghofrani
It is why spending recklessly now on skilled players, versus being smart and grooming the prospect pipeline properly ( say that fast 3X)...gotta get kids to join on ELC,'s to offset high cost vets...hence why to me, Johnson is a significant signing...especially if he can move to 2RD semi quickly. |

They could be, really depends on which players take the next step. And who is in your Bottom 6. Sabres IMO have the luxury of spending a bit more on Defense if need be. Might have a lot of ELC's or 1st contracts at forward. |

Agreed. Elc's will be critical going forward. So will smart FA signings for the bottom half of the roster, and a give and get trade for D and G to net those running cost down. |

Good Post!! Sooner or later Buffalo is gonna have to move a good prospect, they really have to many Forwards, especially with the young core they already have. Time to stop F@cking around and go get a Top 3 D. Gotta have a D who fits between Samuelsson and Power, and they have the assets and a few teams with D that are hurting Cap Wise to do it with. Be interesting to see what he does at G. |

Long day of driving today from Sarasota to Rocky Mount, NC...right at the top of NC that has good hotels and restaurants. Left at 7:00am, arrived at 6:00pm with minor gas / pee stops.
4 year old dog is a frigging travel queen...so good.
Tomorrow another 5 to Leesburg, VA where my son, his wife and 2 grand girls live for their Bday party and a Dance Recital.
Sipping some Bourban, and going to fire up a sleep-aide THC pen in a couple.

Get the D
Implement a more defensively aware system
Get one of A Hill, T Jarry, or the like..pay max of $5 mill for 3 year term.
Trade:
-Olo
-Joker (I like Lyubusshkin better at 3RD)
-UPL
-Bryson
-Mitts, only if absolutely necessary to get that Dman
Send Comrie down, trade at TDL.
LET'S GO KEVYO..it's 6/01 already |

You might be cynical...? Uh, yeah 😅😂
The inverted nature of his contract means a $6M cap hit in what would be the final year of his deal.
You're not saving much.
Also, can we wait for the team to actually show they're good and worthy of spending right up to the cap before worrying about Skinner 2 seasons from now? |

Would anyone consider Petry and Detroit's 2023 2nd for Lybushkin ?
I think I would do that deal. - Buff36
Both are the same player and provide no upgrade |

They are not the same player.
1 averages over 22 minutes a night while one doesn't. And even at 35 Petry hits and blocks shots better than Lyubushkin. Petry IMO helped Pettersson grow last year. |

Lol literally the same player.
Both hit and block shots and are defensive defensemen.
Sorry. No upgrade at all. Petry also sucks at skating |

Im not suggesting they buy him out. They'll most likely move him, and pay someone to absorb most if not all of the 9 million.
Every team is worthy of spending up to the cap. Few do it and get good value. Even fewer manage to get value that exceeds the max they can spend. Those are the ones that win cups. |

I have no idea what you're attempting to say in that last paragraph.
Certainly helps to extract so-called max roster value when you can simply go over the cap limit buy millions of dollars with LTIR.
It's such a non-concern, now and in the near future, especially if the cap rises as predicted in 2 seasons. |

You said we should wait until they are worth of spending to the cap. Nobody is unworthy of that, few do it well. Part of that usually involves making tough decisions with larger cap hits like Skinner's
It's a non concern right now, obviously. But in the near future it definitely could be. |

I would rather overpay the ppg winger a million vs the 15 point per year third liner a million |

before adams was dealing with the bjorks, asplunds and fitz on the roster
now he has to deal with the olofsson, girgens, jokers, brysons on the roster
big difference IMO |

Yeah but this year isn't my issue I mean like 2-3 years from now. Assuming they spend elsewhere in addition to hopefully some players in the next wave hitting it big. |
