For those curious, the Sabres are 16th in height and 22nd in weight. Also keep in mind the margins here are extremely small. We're talking like 2" and 10 pounds from smallest and lightest team to biggest and heaviest
https://www.eliteprospect...-physical-stats/2022-2023
Florida is near the bottom in both and Vegas is near the top in both. |

Mittelstadt is the trade chip imo. Coming off a good year, cheap for this coming season and still an RFA after. He should have good value around the league. Krebs is trending toward being the Sam Bennett of the group (kinda sorta) and he's perfectly suited for a depth scoring center role. - Hank Balling
I really liked middlefats game 2nd half of the year. Sometimes looking like the only one going 100% most games.
But it does look like he would be a perfect chip to get power a real partner.

Biggest complaint a few years back was we had no high end talent. Adams changed that with pretty much every forward he picked.
Problem is they dont have the size yet. With our current forward group whats the point of bringing up a 19 or 20yo that weighs 160lbs.
Unless everyone else here wanted us to draft Girgs 2.0 then yes hes first year one.
Im looking at final product and not where they were drafted. - ZiggyBuff
Fine, but I'll still say if you're planning on waiting until 22, something is wrong.

this isn't misleading
also im a big believer in krebs. kid's a grinder. - TheSabresTaco
Kid showed some of the biggest heart I've ever seen last year.
Find a 4C that can take faceoffs so this stud doesn't have to play with bums anymore

He blocks shots, hits, and has 2 fights on his resume while being the best player on his line. All while being NHL average in size. But carry on carrying on. - SDSabre
Well if the measuring stick is Girgs and Okposo, you nailed it. |

That's great that a better play would help his point totals.
All the way up to the trade to Buffalo he was developed to play top 6/9 (hehehe) role.
If he continues his development, then you have a choice to make at 3C:
Mitts/Krebs/Cozens/Savoie/Ostlund
2 of those players should be moved to improve the D and add muscle to support the core. - washedup20

If Krebs had gotten to play second line winger instead of Quinn or JJ, he’d have been 6th in scoring for Buffalo last year as a 21/22 year old. Did he (frank) your mom or something? |

Krebs is listed at 5’11” 180 to 6 even 187. Is he huge? No. He’s not small either. And he’s a grinder with an active stick that if he didn’t play with stone hands and a human Zamboni would probably have doubled is assist totals - SDSabre
Hahaha dude best descriptions I have seen for those 2 |

We just went through 15 years of rushing most of our prospects. Adams has shown if they are ready they get a spot. If not he signs Okposo to warm the seat 🤩
If a guy was top 20 pick but takes till he is 22yo to be a good player that is a problem?

I don't think he'd ever cross check a guy in the back of the head while laying on the ice though.
Or sucker a guy being held by another player.
But hey, if he were to I wouldn't be opposed |

Why would he play 2nd line wing, and why didn't he get more offensive opportunity like pp time? |

He's probably a 35 point checking line center going forward (maybe more like 40-45 if he gets different wingers. He's a modern Larry and that's OK

He had middle 6 opportunities and did get PP time. It didn't work and it should be concerning.
Decision time on him. If you think he's just a 4C, he's still young enough to trade and recover some value.

He was relegated to 4th line duties with some doofies pretty quickly. 1 full season and we're saying this kids only a 4C. Ya'll dont learn. Same story every offseason in this place
Tage took till he was 24 before showing life. Same with Mitts.

What did we think Mittelstadt was collectively before last season ended?
Agree on the long term valuation perspective.
If you think he tops out at 4C or a 3rd line supporting wing position, makes to trade before the rest of the league also believes that. |

The Captain, who will be his line mate next season, should be the best player he can lean on and learn from. Is Krebs closer to doofie or what? |

This predicament will only grow with:
Olo
Mitts
Krebs
Greenway
Rosen
Happened and the Sabres were too late to move:
Asplund
Bjork
Etc |
