He is good but I don't think he accomplished more than Dahlin when he signed his bridge.

Danny B says Columbus needed celery retention for Provorov. Not that I don't believe him, as the trade indicates.. but they are a poopty team with 12 million available and most of a set roster. I wonder if they were concerned for year two of Provy, they have a ton of ELCs coming off. |

I agree, the narrative will be to sign players early due to Tage...until the next Skinner comes along then it will change.

I don’t get it. LIV won the war …. The PGA lost - Sabretooth9
The PGA Tour got bent over here. There's no question about it, but I also don't think it's a matter of LIV "winning the war" either. LIV needed this merger as much as the PGA Tour did. The PGA Tour was on a path to bankrupting itself with these new "elevated events" with jacked up purses, and needed a huge influx of cash. At the same time, LIV couldn't get TV deals on a network that people would even accidentally tune into, and so that wasn't sustainable either. Their ratings on the CW in the US were absolutely atrocious. According to Alan Shipnuck (whose interview with Phil Mickelson) started this whole thing, LIV stopped reporting them because they were so bad. Sure, this PIF fund could subsidize it, probably for quite a while, but it doesn't make sense to do so. At the end of the day, this is just like the AFL-NFL merger. The AFL was a legitimate force, but at the same time it was never going to overtake the NFL. It simply made sense for both sides merge, keep the AFL teams, just like LIV is going to keep some of their events, and even get rid of some personalities a lot of folks didn't like (Trump in the AFL; Greg Norman is not expected to be involved in the new entity). Meanwhile, the Saudis get the foot in the door they always wanted from Day one.

The real losers are the players who showed loyalty, turning down 9 figure offers.
Tiger turned down $800,000,000.00
Rory turned down $300,000,000.00
No room for loyalty in todays business world.

Did McDavid and Eichel influence the NHL so much early on that paying for the future became the foundation for ELC players?

That 30% most likely moved the pick from 2nd to 1st round.

I'm confused here. Are you talking about the NFL/AFL merger in the late 60's? If Trump had anything to do with that, that is news to me. Trump had involvement in the USFL of the 80's. That league had nothing on the NFL and didn't amount to poop. Just like the slop LIV league that was nose diving into the ground and taking the defectors with it. (frank)in slop league.

At the same time, though, they're still the sport's biggest names, and they need to keep those names happy. I'm guessing the newly infused PIF money will make them whole somehow. |

Yeah, you're right. I got those two confused on the Trump part. Still, if the PGA Tour wasn't the loser here, the PIF fund wouldn't be anywhere near this deal. The Tour absolutely needs that cash.

The Columbus GM indicated yesterday that they're not doing making moves, and have a goal to take a big step in improvement for next season.
That could be a big part of their request to retain salary on Provorov.
>>> Adding Provorov adds experience to the #CBJ blue line, but they could still add another in free agency.

Those golfers that defected are going to have to pay back the Saudis whatever they didn’t win. It was a cash advance. That’s what I heard. They’ll get poisoned if they don’t. |
