The Columbus GM indicated yesterday that they're not doing making moves, and have a goal to take a big step in improvement for next season.
That could be a big part of their request to retain salary on Provorov.
>>> Adding Provorov adds experience to the #CBJ blue line, but they could still add another in free agency.

I wonder if Babcock came with a list of players he wanted.

Spending an additional 12M would be quite the feat. Prolly not for this year but have a couple RFAs in 24/25 they need to resign.

He also said he has no idea what Winnipeg is actually asking for. That's just his guess. He also struggled mightily to pronounce ukko pekka Luukkonen - Hank Balling
Fair. I could see WPG asking for that, but that's two top15 picks and a prospect goalie for a rental. Yeesh.

So they got on there knees to sign Levi, didn't want to block him and probably missed the playoffs this year cause of it to trade him. - Buff36
Yeah, that wouldn't make a ton of sense. Levi for Hellbuyck is exactly what WPG would want, but Adams et al don't seem that foolish. If KA was in the hot seat, maybe he makes a knee jerk trade, but it's pretty clear the leash is still slack.

Yeah not a chance in hell they'd do that - and they shouldn't
Would any team even give up a 2023 1st round pick, a quality forward NHL prospect, and a young goaltender for Hellebuyck?
Even that seems like a lot. - kingcong39
Billeck brought up the St. Louis Miller trade which I think is an interesting comp due to their similar contract status
Ryan Miller and Steve Ott from the Buffalo Sabres for Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart, prospect William Carrier, a first-round draft pick in 2015 and a third-round pick in 2016.
Basically a 1st, prospect and 3rd when you whittle out the other pieces

I can't believe we even got that. Dang. Maybe I'm sipping the Kool Aid on the cost of CH.

The goalie market has changed a lot in the last 10 years though.

The Blues clearly had a dire need for a Center to be included in that deal 😂😅
To be serious, sure on the 1st and 3rd, but Carrier was a 2nd round pick.
The Sabres equivalent would be a player like Poltapov, not Krebs.
