Sounds like JT and Knies are both top6 LW's next year. Not really the model PF but few better then JT at snagging garbage at the net front.

Look let's say they do run that top-4 back - you put Knies or JT in instead of Bunting and that first line instantly becomes far more dangerous.
Option 1. JT gets more room because of Matthews, Marner gets more room because of both JT and Matthews and Matthews gets more opportunities because of Tavares.
Option 2. Knies creates room by driving the net, which opens opportunities for Marner, or Matthews. Knies had a nice net drive ability with the puck as well which could open up rebound opportunities - or he starts cashing on those. We saw it in his college highlights as well, so it's a move he's pretty good at. I don't know how good his shot is, but if it's a respectable shot, he can similarly open up more space for Matthews or Marner as well.
That said, I don't see any good/realistic 2C options in the UFA market other than ROR.
