The Leafs aren't going to announce to the world that they've decided they must trade one of their core. The other teams would say okay, we'll offer you (frank) all and a couple of chocolate bars. - Zezel
Pridham has likely been making calls and getting a sense of who’s interested and possible returns |

It is the safer option, rather than coming out and saying we're trading everyone!
For all we know, it was Shanny that wanted to trade Nylander and Dubas wouldn't do it?
Who leaks this 'info' to the media anyway? |

- Gio is done
- really hoping Knies can contribute, he looked pretty good in the playoffs
- Robertson-Holmberg-Laff is seriously lacking as your 3rd line.
- Steeves-Abruzzese-McMann is a wonderful Marlies line but a horrid 4th line on the big club
- I think we should re-sign Schenn
- Liljegren needs to step up his game and be given every opportunity to do so
- Agreed with starting the year with Murray unless there's a guy like Helly who becomes available
The Leafs need more grit and another stud defender. Brodie may need to be shipped off.
This team needs a lot of work. - mjones242
CLAUSE DETAILS: 2023-24: Player submits a 10 team no-trade list
at least 21 other teams he can be traded to

Do you think Brendan is going to say to a potential candidate 'I will only hire you, if you pinky swear not to move one of the top guys'? - PatC80
He is going to say don't trade them for the sake of change yes, as he stated. |

Aaron - from last thread.
Per capfriendly:
Club electing for Arbitration in the first window can be made in lieu of a Qualifying Offer - The Law[CBA 12.3(a)(ii)]
Player cannot be awarded less than 85% of his previous years combined base salary, signing bonuses and performance bonuses [CBA 12.3(a)(iii)] (85% of his salary of 8,225,000 is about 6,999,000)
Club offer for Arbitration in the second window equal to or higher than the Players previous years combined base salary, signing bonuses and performance bonuses [CBA 12.3(b)(ii)]
As I said, I read them. I didn't give misinformation.
Aaron, 85% of his last years salary (1.8M) is $1.53 milly. That's the lowest award. I'm assuming you totalled all of his career earning to get the $8.225 figure?
It specifically says "years". I don't know how he'd get less than he's currently making and his QO wouldn't be less either. It doesn't make sense that way.
Either way (cause I could be wrong) there IS a set rule for awarding the amount money in which you claimed there was none. |

Pridham has likely been making calls and getting a sense of who’s interested and possible returns - Canada Cup .
I don't think any of the core will be traded until the team knows for certain that Matthews is resigning. You trade away Marner and or Nylander you better get equal or better players back ( highly doughtfull ) because if you dont and Matthews doesn't sign and walks the teams pretty much screwed IMO. |

Sort of. If they trade Marner it has to be before Matthews can sign. They still have the option to trade Willie since he can only block to 7 (I think) teams. Any trade better be a good one otherwise Matthews becomes more likely to walk. |

What experienced GM would want to work for Shannyplan?
I'm sure the Leafs will greatly overpay someone to take the job.
And this new GM will overpay to keep Matthews, Marner and Nylander as well. |

If Gudas and Bennett were Maple Leafs, how many suspensions would they have been given during this playoff? - PatC80
This false narrative is getting annoying. As though the Leafs can't go out and get tougher players cuz they'll get suspended.
It's the Buntings and Kadris that get suspended...guys who aren't the tough and gritty players but try to be because our line up lacks any of it at all.
Did Schenn get suspended or any of his great hits? McCabe? Nope.
The problem isn't that Leafs are tough and get penalized, the problem is the Leafs aren't tough so they get scrutinized when they try to be.
Refs are used to watching Schenn, Gudas, Bennett, Thachuk play their game so they don't get called...same with Chara.
When Bunting crosschecks a guy in the face area ONCE and only ever ONCE it's out of character and gets called.
When Chara crosschecks a guy 7 million times he MIGHT get called if he flattens a guy in front of his net once or twice a year. Huge difference. |

Qualifying offer is either a match of last years salary (if you earn less than a certain amount) or 85% if greater than that certain amount. The arbitrator doesn't base their award on the Q.O.
I didn't tell you there was "no rule" about arb awards. I was responding to you saying that your review of the rules said that Sammy would get a minimum of $3.5M from an arbitrator. I was just trying to help clarify for you. You got to that by adding up all the money Sammy has earned in his entire career and multiplying it by 85%. It's his last year's salary ...not his career. |

Read your first sentence
As I said, I COULD be wrong on the award but it specifies "years" as in plural. I thought the same as you but why would deals be so high for other goalies if that's the case? Why did Georgiev get triple his salary when the team could have gone to the hearing and got awarded less if it was based off his 700k salary? |

I love how everything I say in here immediately gets ridiculed (mostly from the 5 F’s, but others jump in) and every single day the boys on Overdrive say the exact same thing as I do LMAO.
Leafs fans are a very, very special breed.
Some are truly great fans and knowledgeable for sure. But reading some tweets lately about how amazing Dubas was etc etc. It’s been a week you psychopaths lol. Next it’ll be crying about the “best coach in the NHL - Sheldon Keefe” and how he has the best winning percentage. Then it’ll be Nylander stats about how he deserves 100 million a year and they never shoulda moved him..
I’m just a pint on the patio this summer. Do whatever you gotta do new GM, just don’t move Marner because they’ll miss the playoffs if they do. |

I think that when the Team elect to take the player to arbitration which the minimum amount they can get.
usually the team offer 10% of the player last year salary as you said. |
