I'm not necessarily a die-hard Bob Hartley fan but you can tell he really helped those young Latvians establish a work ethic and gain enough confidence to play in an international tournament where the odds are generally stacked against them. they didn't win a medal when he was coaching that team but I remember they surprised a lot of people with their level of compete.
anyway I'm really happy for Montembeault, he was team Canada's best player and remained calm and poised for every game, kudos to him, you can tell the kid works hard and he fully deserves it. |

Hains: Montembeault Backstops Canada to Gold
Team Canada grabbed the gold medal this afternoon with a 5-2 win over Germany. - Karine Hains
Was a fairly tight game until the German team player had a brain fart turn-over that lead to the 3 on 1 Tifolli goal. Canada did not have the best tournament, but won when it counted and that is all that matters in the end.
The crowd seemed to be having fun, was kinda cool to see all the different countries represented in the stands, all looked to be dancing and laughing and just enjoying the game. I think I would have enjoyed being in that arena to take in that atmosphere!
Good tournament for Germany and Latvia, too.
Nice to see other teams earn some medals.

I think you still have a few chicken sandwich crumbs stuck in your beard... don't worry, you can barely tell, you really have to look closely to notice them.
