It's the Leafs. Money should mean nothing when you have two times as much as everyone. Who cares what Dubas makes. It doesn't effect the CAP. If they feel he's the best guy for the job, which they clearly did, they were offering him a 5 year deal, then just pay him.
Bolded- From Shanahan's account, yeah. But that's only one account. - GreatGigInTheSky
Even companies that print money still have a limit on how much they want to pay someone.
Maybe they thought he was the best at the current agreed upon figure but then dubas waivered, publicly said he was unsure of if he wanted to be a gm. Then asked for more money.
Thats a big red flag specially for a gm who just now finally won 1 playoff round.
We'll see how it all plays out |

No no there's the other 3000 accounts of what happened by Seraveilli, HB posters, and twitter bots.
Oh and of course CJ who suggested that he spoke the the Core 4 directly.
Here's how the next 4 weeks roll out ...
First week of June - more crying about Shannydo v. Dubbydo;
Second week of June - Leafs hire a vet GM - despair will heighten;
Third week of June - Leafs get to work - New GM does 'things' and HB crashes daily due to volume of tears and/or cheers;
Final week of June - we'll obsess about the best 17 yr old player ever drafted at pick 28 and fight about whether buying out Murray was the best way to go;
First week of July - we'll obsess about the handful of new contracts - the consensus will be that they are either the best ever or the worst ever ...no in between;
The balance of summer until camp - Go Jays .....HB reduced to 6 posters sharing complaints;
It's inevitable ...just enjoy the ride. |

Since when did management making a decision you don't agree with become a temper tantrum? |

Company claims to care about mental health, except when it's their employee talking about his mental health.
Like, all he said was he had to talk it over with his most important people. And within a day he decided.
Pretty pathetic from the Leafs, if we're being honest. |

Agreed.
You could also sign him 8M for 4 years, lose 1st round next season and then have to fire him.
Letting Dubas go is not surprising, both sides have valid points so who cares, lets see what the next guy does. |

Ah, yes. Seravelli.
The guy that is so angry at Dubas for never giving him information that he put out an article talking about how Dubas is being investigated about his agent.
The same idiot that got angry at the Leafs from trading for O'Reilly and called it a bad move, because he didn't see it coming.
I know it was tongue in cheek, but Seravelli being such a butthurt baby makes me laugh. |

It being a temper tantrum is why it's a temper tantrum. The entire press conference, I'm actually impressed that Shanahan held his tears in.
Me not agreeing with it is irrelevant. |

I think you are the one with the temper tantrum here.
Leafs are just changing GMs.
Life is okay.
There is a pattern here with you needing to hate and put all your hate energy into someone in this organization. |

Performance management does not care about people, they care about results, that's it. No different than most companies where results are the only thing that keep you employed as a Sr Execs. Mental health is for lower people, not Sr Execs having to deliver results...no excuse allowed. |

Pointing out sulking and whining and making a decision completely on an emotional fringe, means that I'm with a temper tantrum?
The (frank)? Is this supposed to be like a "I know you are but what am I" thing? You kidding me?
I was perfectly fine with the Leafs moving on if that was their decision. But it wasn't. They chose to re-up him. Then flip-flopped their decision because they got their panties in a twist.
Now they're needing to focus all their attention on bringing in a new guy, last second, because of it.
Confidence, that does not give. |

And based on performance they were prepared to offer him the job until they weren’t. Oh also, performance management and concern about mental health are not incompatible |

Ottawa seems like the better fit ...
But maybe a pres/gm position in Pitt would be enticing. |
