Wonder how much Sid had to sign off on this. If they even asked him... which you would think they would. - dozerD10
they had a late night meeting at the Pens practice facility.

Is this good news for Pit? The guy couldn't produce in Toronto. At least Stan Bowman won something.
Talking about the GM. - powerenforcer
At least Dubas left Toronto without covering up sexual assault. So he has that going for him at least. |

Who in their right mind would want that job of GM in Tor They have not won anything since Moby Richard was a minnow. So much pressure there, it will be like a vacation in Pittsburgh. Less stress less aggrevation and less everything. He made the right move for him personally. UP next what dimwit will want the Tor job. Remember 1967 because that is all you will ever have in T O |

Haha I’d love see Doug Wilson handle the cap hell this team is and will continue to be in. 20 years running the Sharks and the guy has never won a championship. Great cap work with the sharks (LMAO). He’s all yours Enjoy ! |

if accurate, then KD is full of crap. What did he say at his press conference? Dont expect me to sign anywhere next week or anytime soon. This guy is a joke. - M*A*S*H
That was before he got unceremoniously axed. |

I always harp on teams having top picks when they want to win a cup. I always state that teams that win the cup usually have at least 3 top 5 picks: Here is what it looks like:
VGK
5th Pick - Phil Kessel
4th Pick - Alex Pietrangelo
2nd Pick - Jack Eichel
FLA
6th Pick - Matthew Tkachuk* (he is a top 5 pick)
4th Pick - Sam Bennett
2nd Pick - Aleksander Barkov
2nd Pick - Sam Reinhart
2nd Pick - Eric Staal
1st Pick - Aaron Ekblad |

This is meaningless. Something Ek and friends would come up with. Like the fact that Staal was a #2 pick twenty years ago does not reflect his contributions today. Mark Stone was a 6th round pick but is performing like a typical top 5 pick. He's not listed for Vegas, but Phil Kessel who isn't even on the ice is noteworthy?
I think what's more obvious is you need numerous players performing at an ELITE level, regardless of where they were drafted. Add solid coaching. Add health. Add luck. That's the recipe.

So multiple sources are saying this deal is almost done. The ball is obviously in KD's court. Given what he said about his future intentions in that Toronto playoff exit press conference, I wouldn't be surprised if he throws a wrench into the deal with Pittsburgh too. If Pittsburgh pivots to someone else this guy needs to have a bigger red flag next to his name than Chayka. |

Agreed.
Marchessault wasn't even drafted and Karlsson was a 2nd round pick. Bobrovsky, Verhaeghe, and Mountour were all taken in the second and third rounds.
I'd argue that these players (and Stone) are equally, if not MORE, important to their teams that the players that were listed. |

The sources I'm hearing are saying that Pitt is about close the door on this offer because he's taking too long. He's essentially been sitting on this offer for over a week. It's a dumb move if I'm KD. Pitt is in a awful position of needing a tear down and not having a fan base or an ownership that will stomach it. They have three untradeable superstars that can't carry the team anymore and can't or won't be traded. Unreliable goaltending, and wonky defense. And before some Pitt fan comes here telling me I don't know anything----I plucked those gems from YOUR little corner of this website.
At least EK didn't take credit for the Treliving annoucment

Dubas couldn’t get it done in Toronto with a team stacked with young talent…..so Pittsburgh hires him to try to win with their team full of old has-beens in the twilight of their careers. Makes sense to me 👍🏼. |
