I am not backreading 12 pages so if you discussed it then whatever.
Heard on the radio, apparently in the Treliving interview and other interviews Shanny made a point to say something like "I like what Keefe has done as a coach but you can fire him if you want".
If the rumours of Shanny telling/indicating the core 4 are "safe" and that he likes the coach, what actual major roster changes are we in for?
Which, this has nothing to do with Treliving, everything to do with Shanahan. - Aaron_85
The Core 4 has another full year. Some say that's a bad problem to have, others may think it gives them a lot of freedom, and gives the incoming GM a year to see what he thinks vs. "hey here's like ~50M worth of primo contracts you have to sort out".
I think though that the cap space will give him a chance to build around the core, but my guess is they're running it back.
Keefe could have a short leash too.
I know if I was taking over a team, I'd want some time to form my own opinion of what's working and what isn't. |

Your narrative is so predictable. - jribout
The Leafs are predictably inept and predictably unsuccessful.
Sorry, but it's not narrative. It's reality. |

So cheer for a new team. Or don't. Either way, you've been whining for a dozen pages. This place is not therapy, if you want something that resembles a real fix go to actual therapy.
Jesus, you used up all your whining wanting Dubas fired. Now you get what you get, stop sulking about it. 🤦 |

Insanity if they keep Keefe. He's been in over his head since he got here. Just be done with him. |

Keefe needs to go……and he is under contract for another year so won’t be teaming up with Dubas anywhere. When he is canned he still gets paid for next year and won’t be working anywhere while the Lwafs are paying him. See Babcock. - Bullot
Most teams release the coach from the contract when they get another offer.

I don't know if Treliving is a good hire or not.
But, he does not seem to fit into the image of what you would expect the Leafs to do. Almost seems like an exact opposite image in terms of Leafs' expectations.
For that reason, maybe he will turn out to be a brilliant hire.
Treliving and Calgary parted ways on a mutual consent where it appeared that Treliving was taking the initiative to step away. Leads me to wonder if the move to the Leafs was not nearly as spontaneous as everyone first thought. |

From the tweeter
"Friedman on SN says he doesn’t think Treliving want to make any changes to the core four, definitely doesn’t want to move Marner, believes he wants to make adjustments around them, especially on D. Treliving has a history of drafting and trading for D."
"Also says he believes Matthews sincerely wants to stay as well as Marner and Nylander."
Which is what I suggested a day or so ago. I could see Tree making changes on the back end. Sign some bigger skilled guys and trade out some of what we have.
Also get a new coach. |

If the Sens contend for a playoff spot next season they will have a great year and return to being top 5 in NHL team attendance.
Ottawa/Gatineau has a deep pool of wealth and the highest average household income in Canada. They will gift millions of $000 in Sens Christmas swag next year.
Ryan Reynolds will be with the team in Sweden on opening night and he will have multiple cameras focussed on the young Sens.
I think both Dorion and Smith remain with the team, although Dorion has his powers adjusted for a new boss that comes in over top of him.
DeBrincat is moved and the cap space is used for a power forward and goaltender.
Leafs offer up Marner for Brady Tkachuk.
Dorion is told by his new boss not answer any phone call with a 416 area code.

Outside of extending Matthews, Tree has to get rid of that huge dubas mistake in Murray.
That contract has to go and it could cost us.
What a waste of money. |

Unfortunate. I'd hope to be pleasantly surprised but to me that would be just burning another year. It's time for a significant change. |
