Depending on what the Flyers do, signing short term UFA's to one or two year deals as stopgaps may be a necessary evil.
- MJL

That's why I mentioned big contracts, even if it's for 1-2 years. Not worried about depth signings that are cheap. Best thing the Flyers have done the last few years is not signing Gaudreau.

I just heard back from my sisters, husband, 2nd cousin on his dad's side, who heard from his uncles, nieces, nephew, who was married to a Zamboni driver, who was 2nd cousins with a dentist, the dentist plays hockey with the grand father of the Zamboni driver who told his father that he heard from a nurse, that the deal is already in place to trade Hayes to the Bruins for Marchand, with the Bruins retaining 1/2 of the salary.

Could be, or he could poach Pridham from Toronto or even hire his buddy Spezza.

I don't think Tulsky is gonna be leaving Carolina ever.

- Tomahawk

seems dubas will be doing what his former boss did to him!!! if so that is very funny.

Tulsky has a low pressure situation job that he gets results for. Some aint cut out for the big market with a spotlight job. Just an opinion.

I'd rather have his contract than the Risto and DeAngelo deals that are on the books. 6 years at $9.75m for an elite offensive talent is not bad. Plus, they would have a bunch of extra draft picks.

Yes. Ride out the contract. Might be more attractive trade target in two years. Flyers should not retain any salary in any deal to shed players. Especially not to appease Tortosaurus Rex.

Trade players that actually bring back value. But we know they wonโ€™t do that.

- StepfordSam

thin maybe jones and danny would say to the coach make it work if there are no trades available.

One thing both those 2 need to recognize is they will be hear longer than torts. So pout him in his place early. do not let him dictate

Think it has more to do with the Hurricanes having a finance guy as an owner, who values the technical expertise that guys like Tulsky bring to the table, and allows them to freely reimagine how they do things from top to bottom, soup to nuts.

Surely that plays a part. At some point you want to move on and try it elsewhere. At some point maybe he will. Though some like the comfort zone they are in and help create.

do the canes spend to cap max? Haven't really looked how have they done drafting wise?

What did you think of the finale?

- Tomahawk

I really enjoyed it. The kind of finale that sticks with you for a while after. Not sure where it ranks in terms of recent finales like that I've enjoyed like Breaking Bad, BCS and the Leftovers but I liked it overall. The show has a unique way of really humanizing the characters with that scene in the kitchen and then reminding you why they're all such wretched, selfish people with that scene in the conference room. All in all a very satisfying end, in my opinion. How about you?

I guess you missed the intended sarcasm which indicates that I've already figured it out.

Do what Chicago did with Domi.

Find a one year stopgap you can move at the deadline. Maybe someone who is trying to build value back up or reclamation project.

Some UFA's that might fit that:
Andreas Athanasiou
Andreas Johnsson
Jonathan Drouin
Sean Monahan

I don't know what their markets will be but maybe 1 year deals and then you move to contender at deadline. Try to gain some assets.

Haha yeah, meal fit for a king!

Old money Caroline giving them frozen "knobbies" when they said they were hungry lol, so perfect.

Peter's poor cheese lol.

And in the end everybody got what they deserved. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Gonna miss the show.

That scene was the best. I love how Caroline is super rich and yet only can offer them frozen bread ends and Peter's sacred cheese. She was a great character, wish she cropped up more. Gonna miss it as well, but glad they ended it when they did. It felt like the right time for the conclusion.

Haha yeah, loved how she only really let Roman crash to use him as a lure to get all the kids over for the business pitch lol. And she wouldn't administer Roman's eye drops herself because "face eggs" gross her out lol.

Such good character writing.

When the cross state rivals hire a legitimate PoHo it is a reminder of what a joke the Jones hiring was.

His blitzkrieg PR campaign is all you need to know about the seriousness of the position.

As Logan Roy would say: Keith Jones is not a serious person.

- StepfordSam

Interesting; the Flyers/Succession comparison. Logan=Mr. Snider. Ken=Torts? Roman=Jonesy?Shiv=Briere? Or is Jonesy=Tom the pain sponge? Maybe be Hilferty is Tom?

It would be tragic if Briere can't get a 2nd round pick for this draft. It's not good going 80 spots between picks when you're a bottom feeder team just finally starting a rebuild.

There are actually some funny parallels:

Logan has to be Clarkie, the Cup-winning captain, the guy everybody has on the pedestal, the DNA of the franchise, the guy who tells it straight, the guy who does whatever it takes, the long shadow that hangs over everything. The Broad Street Bully.

Kendall is Hexy lol. The guy who dreamed of taking over and making sweeping changes and putting the old guard out to pasture, bringing the family into the new land of cap sanity and building thru the draft. He finally gets his shot, thinks he's doing a thing, but suddenly gets kneecapped when he overreaches. He's unceremoniously cast out and ostracized. Joins forces with the enemy.

Tom is Chuck. The outsider who's only there because he's in bed with somebody in the family. The "nice guy". He looks like a capable executive on the outside but he's basically just a yes man and pushover. Looks like he's collaborating hard but he's actually just everybody's female dog. Offers to take the fall for the family, but unlike the show, he actually has to do it lol.

Torts is Shiv lol. Brought in from the outside purely for PR. Thinks he's smarter than everybody else, has everything figured out, has all the answers, but the family is only putting up with him for the optics. Enjoys putting people in their place. Treats Chuck/Tom like his personal female dog, throwing him under the bus repeatedly. Knows he'll never get the top job, because he's not really part of the club, but is always scheming for more power and influence.

Jonesy is probably Roman. Never really interested in working in the family before but he gets roped in and immediately gets to be co-CEO. Full of funny quips, good with people, has a lot of contacts, but totally lacks experience. People don't take him too seriously, but he's got a critical vote, so he's in the thick of things.

Maybe Danny's Greg... the fresh-faced kid who's just related enough to get a foot in the door, cuts his teeth under Chuck/Tom, and is basically biding his time, playing his own game.
