There are actually some funny parallels:
Logan has to be Clarkie, the Cup-winning captain, the guy everybody has on the pedestal, the DNA of the franchise, the guy who tells it straight, the guy who does whatever it takes, the long shadow that hangs over everything. The Broad Street Bully.
Kendall is Hexy lol. The guy who dreamed of taking over and making sweeping changes and putting the old guard out to pasture, bringing the family into the new land of cap sanity and building thru the draft. He finally gets his shot, thinks he's doing a thing, but suddenly gets kneecapped when he overreaches. He's unceremoniously cast out and ostracized. Joins forces with the enemy.
Tom is Chuck. The outsider who's only there because he's in bed with somebody in the family. The "nice guy". He looks like a capable executive on the outside but he's basically just a yes man and pushover. Looks like he's collaborating hard but he's actually just everybody's female dog. Offers to take the fall for the family, but unlike the show, he actually has to do it lol.
Torts is Shiv lol. Brought in from the outside purely for PR. Thinks he's smarter than everybody else, has everything figured out, has all the answers, but the family is only putting up with him for the optics. Enjoys putting people in their place. Treats Chuck/Tom like his personal female dog, throwing him under the bus repeatedly. Knows he'll never get the top job, because he's not really part of the club, but is always scheming for more power and influence.
Jonesy is probably Roman. Never really interested in working in the family before but he gets roped in and immediately gets to be co-CEO. Full of funny quips, good with people, has a lot of contacts, but totally lacks experience. People don't take him too seriously, but he's got a critical vote, so he's in the thick of things.
Maybe Danny's Greg... the fresh-faced kid who's just related enough to get a foot in the door, cuts his teeth under Chuck/Tom, and is basically biding his time, playing his own game.
 - Tomahawk
Funny that we both pegged Jonsey as Roman. He's jerking off in his fancy new office right now, but once things start turning to poop he'll be having a nervous breakdown and crying on Tort's shoulder. I thought about Briere as Greg too. Maybe Camillo is the Greg in this "quad-squad"? |

Ha Ha, Giroux asked their GM if they would lower the dress code standards of their organization. Says that they'd make the playoffs if they didn't have to wear ties! I knew he was the main culprit behind the country club attitude in Philly! Rik Emmett not in the top 100 guitarists of all time and Keith Richards is #4. Rolling Stone magazine should shut their operations down at once! |

As for Rolling Stone, they include such guitar luminaries as Johnny Ramone in their lists. They have Alex Lifeson at #98. It tries too hard to be edgy with its picks and is invalid. |

It wasn't Flyers Nation, so don't remember which one. It was under the heading "Giroux had unusual request for his GM in Ottawa".
I've seen Rik Emmett listed as high as 7th on some lists. That may be a bit high, but to not have him in the top 100 is ludicrous. Someone should show Rolling Stone magazine Triumph's set from the American Music Festival in San Berdino from May of 1983. The 40th Anniversary just passed. |

Do what Chicago did with Domi.
Find a one year stopgap you can move at the deadline. Maybe someone who is trying to build value back up or reclamation project.
Some UFA's that might fit that:
Andreas Athanasiou
Andreas Johnsson
Jonathan Drouin
Sean Monahan
I don't know what their markets will be but maybe 1 year deals and then you move to contender at deadline. Try to gain some assets. - J35Bacher
I hope that DB is smart enough to utilize what available cap space we have for contenders. Cap space is valuable in this current climate |

He might not even be the fourth best guitarist to play for the Stones if you count both Taylors.
Rik Emmett is a great player but rather listen to Rikk Agnew. |

Johnny Ramone was quoted that he never practiced because he didn’t want to get better. He was as good as he needed to be.

Yeah amongst others.
I didn't get to see him play until they did that reunion tour in 1986. Still put on a great show. |

I saw the Ramones in, maybe, ‘82 in Philly. What was the name of that club on/near Penn campus? 38th street? Chestnut Cabaret? Joey stood front and center, head down, hair in front of his face, for pretty much the whole show. They just powered through. Barely paused between songs. |

Yep, Chestnut Cabaret...
fun fact.. one of the owners of the Cabarets ( Chestnut, Ardmore, Ambler) was Rick Tocchets' manager.
The place to see the punk bands of that era was at the Hot Club 21st & South.
An L&I inspector told me a story that so many times he went in there and had to write a notice for the sink not being attached to the wall in the rest rooms.. young love could not wait....and romance was consumated on the sinks...their plumber was busy with fixing that.

its pretty nuts some of the players listed. It should probably be recategorized as most influential guitarists or something. Because some of these people can barely play. I am not a massive Van Halen fan but he should be #1 or #2. He is the most under rated guitarist ever. Yes, I said under rated. Van Halen may be the best rock player of all time and some people still don't truly understand how great he actually was. |

We thought it was pretty great at the time, but they were kind of past their prime by them. Now that I’m thinking about it…maybe it was closer to ‘84 or 85? |

I might even give Emmett the slight nod since he was also trained in classical guitar. Saw him at the Spectrum in the spring of 1984 and he could go from shredding it like Eddie to toning it down to classical. Probably the best guitar solo I've ever seen (certainly live) and this is to take nothing away from Eddie's talents.

There is a new boss in town for rock guitar. Nuno bettoncourt and extreme have a new single out and the guitar work is sick.
Listened to a few guitar legends slobbering all over the tape when they were reviewing the song.
Give me Ritchie Kotzen, John Petrucci Nuno, Steve Vai and I’m jamming. |

Edit: actually just looked at the list and as predicted it’s a joke. Some of the people on the list are terrible. Bruce Springsteen huh!
Jimmy Page is a lot of things as a musician but top 100 guitar players isn’t one of them.
His playing was very sloppy.
No Stanley Jordan? Not even Yngwie Malmsteen. Yngwie sounds all the same but he can play and influenced a generation of kids to play guitar. Eric Clapton way over rated. IMO Doug Gilmore was better. |

I knew I wasn't hallucinating this morning although I wasn't wide awake when I read it. Sounds like a country clubber to me. I knew there was something fishy about him and his captaincy in Philly.

This was a great discussion, especially right now when we don't have much else to talk about. There are so many good ones and so many great points made. I'm not saying they are tops of all time, but big fan of Pete Townshend, George Harrison, and Brian May.
