Vegas is doing a wonderful job of proving that the way the Leafs are built is incorrect and needs to change.

Does Vegas have 4 or 5 "superstar" players making over 50% of the cap? No.

They have Eichel, Pietrangelo and Stone who you could consider high paid, star players. Each one has a different role. One guy is a two-way top pair D, one guy is a Selke candidate and the other is your high end prolific scorer.

But after that, the rest of the team is just balance, balance, balance.

Four lines, three solid pairings and great coaching. That's the only reason they're doing as well as they're doing with a 4th string goalie.

The Leafs could learn a lot from that. Would be better off with McPhee as President than Shanahan.

Just when I think your takes cannot get any more stupid. I believe Vegas' playoff roster is 9.5 million over the cap. So maybe the Leafs are in the SCF with an extra $9.5 million in payroll.

Stone and Lehner were on LTIR but nice try. The way they spent their money was far more efficient than the way the Leafs do.

This "over the cap" non-sense is exactly that. Every team takes advantage of the LTIR when they need to including the Leafs with Muzzin, Murray and many others over the years. The Leafs spent 13.6 over the cap via LTIR in 2019-2020. They lost to Columbus. Technically didn't even make the playoffs.

Stick to talking hockey and drop the calling people stupid non-sense while you're at it.

...a few secondary offensive guys who are producing way above norm.
...and of course a career marginal goalie who's now producing way better than he ever has.
