Erod was a very solid player and proved again last year with Colorado he is just that. Flexible center/winger that fits a need for our 3rd line.
Teddy isn't even playing for Vegas so that's a no. - burgh4life87
I'd love to see him back on the 4th line if he slips through the cracks in free agency. I could definitely see it happening. He reminds me of Freddy Gaudreau where he was a really underrated solid producer who proved he could be good somewhere else too. Wouldnt be surprised if Colorado resigns him.

The Guentz-Sid-Rakell line showed they can keep up and compete with anyone. This line should remain intact for the next 4 years unless one of these players show a huge decline (Sid might be the first đź‘€).
Guentzel isn’t stupid. He knows if he signs an 8 year deal in Pittsburgh, he’s probably likely to be traded in year 4/5. Dubas gives him an NTC, but tells Jake when the time comes he can essentially choose his trade destination. Or if Jake just wants to be on a losing team for the tail end of his career he can do that too lol - drummer829
Am I crazy for feeling like Sid could still be playing in 8 years? I could see him sticking around as an effective bottom 6 center for as long as he wants. |

I like a bunch of your FA's.
I would prefer buyout for Granlund.
The 3 players I want sent out are Grandlund, Carter, Petry, DeSmith, and Smith (in that order). Throw Ruuta in there too. As for a 'shake-up' trade, my vote is Rust.
Trading our first, rust, and Smith should get rid of contracts and maybe bring in some other assets.
The bottom 6 needs completely overhauled and a new Top 6.
D needs to remove the log jam, and have better net-front presence + Speed.
A Top 6 Def of:
Pets - Tanger
Gavrikov - Dumba/Klingberg
POJ - idk
Only bottom 6 players I wouldnt mind return would be Poehling, O'Conner, and Nylander. - Grizzsh

We know. We just want to watch entertaining hockey till Sid and Geno ride off into the sunset. - j.boyd919
It would take some magic, but I could absolutely see this team taking a few more runs. Are Florida and Vegas that far ahead in top end talent that Sid, Geno and Letang can't hold a flame to them?
Pens need a goalie who can win playoff games and the need better depth. I honestly think they are a few good moves away from being a contender still. |

Rusty should have been the guy you walk away from. Love the player, but he'll be getting paid for his past performance. Jake is such a tough call.... I'm not sure I can remember another Penguin who takes that kind of abuse for how slightly he's built. I could see him breaking down much sooner than later. |

I definitely agree. I think a lot of the "Crosby and Malkin are washed up" comments come from opposing fans eager to close the book on the Crosby/Malkin era, with some wishful thinking on their part. Seeing them play night after night serves as a constant reminder of how good they still are. They may not be as good as they were five years ago but they are still great players.
It all comes down to whether Dubas can figure out the goalie situation. |

Honestly I think it depends on what Letang we see next year, and the health of the 3. It will always come down to depth and goaltending with the Pens. The top 6 is fine, and is probably one of the better ones in the league in terms of production. If they could now get outscored by a million with the bottom 6 on the ice, and figure out how to fix their PP, the Pens could probably compete.

He's a more than solid 3rd liner who can play up when injuries hit. Should be on the list of FAs for Dubas. |

I actually think Rust ended up getting a rock solid AAV for his “bag” contract. If we don’t give a poop about term and are just trying to ice good value cap hits to build a fun/competitive team until Sid, Geno, and Letang retire then resigning Rust was a fine move. Tough to get a better player at that cap hit through free agency and we have (frank) all to trade. |

I think Dumba could be had on the cheaper side because of this past year. Regardless, I wasnt a Petry fan at all. May be recency bias but some of his hesitation/decision making was brutal. - Grizzsh
You do not want any parts of the lightning rod that is Dumba for a lot of reasons Too many to mention I will leave it at that Let someone else deal with his issues |

I like Rust and think his contract is fine but I also think the Pens biggest need is a right handed sniper for the powerplay. Rust would be a good chip in that type of trade.
Doubt the Leafs and Dubas are trading but a Nylander for Rust deal makes sense for both teams. Flawed as he is, Laine is the guy I have wanted if only for that role. Debrincat might be another option.
There is probably a legit, mutually beneficial trade scenario you could work out for 20 different teams. Hell, Chicago barely has a roster with Bedard coming in... they'd probably love to have a guy like Rust playing with him. |

Interesting. As a 3-4 def I am not sold on him being terrible. Same with Klingberg with a responsible partner. |

I’ll go ahead and put five bucks on Bronco’s issues being purely political. |

Dumba raised his fist during the national anthem 1 time. Figures it would still be eating at a guy like him. |

Why do guys who throw perfectly clean hits, who then get attacked get penalties? Also I would just once love to see a dive called all by itself. |

It’s annoying that every clean hit results in a scrum nowadays.
Also agree that dives should only be called by themselves. Will teach (frank)ers not to dive. |

It's wasn't a blindside hit, it wasn't a late/dirty hit, it wasn't an illegal hit. It was a solid hit, and maybe if Eichel didn't launch himself face-first into him, he doesn't get hurt; just take it in the chest. I have no problem with clean, hard hits.
And agree, 20 years ago it's chalked up as a hard hit and players go about their business. |

7 minute penalty for going after a guy with your gloves on. Either challenge them properly or keep playing hockey. |

I'm just happy that Dumba didn't think there was any systematic racism in Canada, or at least any need to address it at the time. Only in the US. |
