I have 4 season tix with Jets and I’m ok’ish with a rebuild but remember 2 key pieces Perfetti and Lucius are already missing more games then they play. If they don’t get over the injury hump we are more screwed than we think.
PLD to L.A.
55 to Car or Ott
Hellybuck to Buffalo
That’s my guess - jjonah
What kind of returns on those do you think ???? Prefer picks or players.

What about a Kadri and a conditional first for PLD? The first would depend on PLD signing an extension.
Kadri is over 30 qnd on a horrible contract. But if WPG is not looking at rebuilding, he would be an option at 2C.
PLD gets to play with his Quebecois Paisano Huberdeau.
I feel for you guys, Flames pretty much lost all their star players. |

What an absolute PUSS!!
Come to think of it, this would be the second team he's quit on (third if you count Cape Breton in the Q)...who the hell would want that?
Actually, he'd make the perfect Hab! fire St.Louis , hire Patrick Roy and put him and Dubois together

Picks and prospects would be preferred return.
Trading for players with 1 or even 2 years left on their deal does nothing for a team like Winnipeg.
Need contract control and need to flips the roster over quite a bit |

My guess for this trio (2 options)
PLD - if not Mon, NYR (3rd - Bos)
55 - LA or Car
Hellebuyck - NJ or LA |

How has he not quit on teams? - jmatchett383
Well, PLD just had his best season statistically speaking, so is it fair to say he quit on the Jets? No, it isn't. PLD has simply informed the Jets of his plans, or intentions going forward, which every GM appreciates. PLD wants to get to UFA status, which means one more season.....then he can chase the team he wants. I do not see him in Montreal, as PLD will want far to much in cost and in term, it will be an easy pass for the Habs.

C Ryan Hofer from Wash
C Quinton Byfield from LA
RHD Brandt Clarke from LA
LHD Kaiden Guhle from MTL
C Owen Beck from MTL
RHD David Jiricek from CLB
LHD Simon Edcinsson from DET
Would love to land these types of players in the process…..I know you’re not getting these types of prospects unless it’s a sign and trade but PLD, 55 and Hellybuck are top talents and asset management is key here, which makes me nervous |

I don't agree that asset mgmt has been a big issue. Every GM with history in the league has made bad trades, picks, fa signings etc. that haven't worked out and Chevy is no exception. To point to individual instances of talent loss isn't really fair as it is not a closed system that depends on retaining everything. Every year there is an injection of draft picks into the system and opportunity for FAs to add to the system.
The real measure of asset management is whether the team is competitive, for how long a time and balanced by never being complacent in trying to improve. After a purge and rebuild from Atlanta the Jets have been competive in the top half of the league for a long time. My issue is that there is complacency demonstrated by retaining Maurice past his expiry date in Wpg, not making roster changes to fix serious locker room issues (going on 6 years now) and not giving the team a roster that has an identity strength - ie. speed, size, skill, grit, defense. We don't shine at any of those things outside of goaltending.
I don't think there is a plan except for to replace PLD with anyone with a recognized upside. Doesn't mean there is an asset mgmt problem - just a lack of vision.

"IF" PLD is traded to one of the following teams, I think "some combination" of these players mentioned might be involved: (I'm assuming an extended PLD and adding in Heinola to the deal):
Montreal - K. Dach, J. Anderson (NTC), Beck, F, Mesar and I think Justin Barron will be one part of any deal
New York Rangers - Chytil, Schneider, Othman
Carolina - Necas, Nikishin, Kotkaniemi
Boston - Carlo, Lysell, Swayman
LA - Vilardi, Pinelli, Clarke
Of course there would be a few draft picks involved (both ways?) and guys like Armia, Arvidsson, etc might have to be included for salary cap purposes.
Just my guess as to what may go down! |

The poor asset mgmt can be pointed to with the Jets….simple things like missing number of games played by 1 game or 2 just to retain rights.
Losing Kovacevic who played 77 games for Montreal last year and was a “plus” player for NOTHING stands out. A 6’5” RHD man does have some value but we didn’t see it or get any
Jets have appeared asleep at the wheel on more than one player and really losing someone for nothing happens yes, but Jets have been sloppy |

lol it's not to say that Dubois isn't worth a lot, it's just that with the current Hurricanes contract situations on defense, they're really going to need Nikishin when he's finally able to come over.

They lost Kovacevic to keep Capobianco, yeah thats a decision that just screams great asset management.. 🙄.. 🤣 |

I don't think too many of those guys would be available,
could only see Lysell, Vilardi and Pinelli being possibilities.
I really don't see the Rangers or LA as fits for Dubois but we'll see. |

Yes, I think he could be had in a trade for a guy with better goal scoring.
That's a guy I'd trade for DeBrincat, probably not for Dubois though.
I doubt he'd enjoy Raleigh (or Rod Brind'amour) given his desire to end up in Montreal. |

No, I'm sure not all are available but doesn't hurt to ask, eh?
You say Vilardi and Pinelli might be available - that would be great news, and possible foundation of Jets/Kings trade for an extended PLD.
I actually see the Kings and Rangers as the best trade partners - but that's just a gut feeling. In LA's case, think they might have interested in PLD/Scheifele and Helle? |

Maybe Scheifele straight up for Necas then? Scheif can score.
Problem is Scheif is UFA in 2024 - he would have to sign an extension, and would there be a problem with that, going to Carolina? Maybe, maybe not!
The Canes are close to SC contention so I'm thinking both Helle and Scheifele would at least interest them. The Canes may just lack that one more piece? |

Columbus is LOADED on D and pick 3rd overall this year
Provorov Severson
Werensky Jiricek
Peeke Gudbranson.
Bean Boqvist
Then they have:
Denton Mateychuk - 1st rd 2022
Corson Cuelmans - 1st rd 2021
Stanislav Svozil - 2nd rd 2021
Jets should be talking Hellybuck and/or Scheifle to Columbus |

Gotta give Jarmo credit, he's in a pretty tough spot in Columbus but he at least tries stuff. |

Some players wish to go to a city to be closer to family.
PLD seems to want to get away from his family.

Just saw a post from the athletic saying Dubois is willing to sign with a few teams, signing for 8 years then trade. If true that adds a lot more value |
