Bill,
Will Foerster definitely be on the Flyers at the start of the year in your opinion? |

McKenna is of the opinion that the player has, in reality, outperformed his statistics over the past two seasons when healthy, and the real issue is that the team defense in front of him has been lackluster. - bmeltzer
Hart's above-average at ES, but his true weakness is his play while the team is shorthanded... letting in a lot of goals that should have been stopped.
He was ranked #102 (-6.3) in goals saved above expected this season while SH, #119 (-9.0, dead last) in 21-22, #91 (-5.7) in 20-21, and #80 (-6.5) in 19-20.
That's almost 30 PP goals over 4-seasons that most other goalies probably would have stopped but somehow got past him. It undermines a lot of the good things that he does at ES, and probably a big contributor to why the team's PK% has been so awful. |

Great article from someone that knows goalies. Hart is highly regarded, and the fact that most guys that really understand the position believe he still has room to get better. I think the Flyers need to maximize the asset for sure…I also believe there will be 3-4 teams that really look at this as a great opportunity to get a good young goalie who in the right circumstance could one day be considered elite. |

I’m pretty sure the Flyers will be trying to take a defenseman in the first with Provy out, but with the forward-rich draft, I’m kinda hoping for Benson or Moore at 7 and finding a way to get Sale later in the round.
Give Howie a call. Maybe he can make it happen. Hell, he’d probably somehow get Will Smith and Sale with the roll he’s been on. |

Michkov at #7, Simashev at #22. Maximum chaos. |

I think you do…it will depend on how Danny’s draft board shakes out. |

I don't believe that Provorov being traded will factor into who the Flyers take. They'll draft BPA.

Reinbacher may end up being that BPA, but yes, I agree, the Provorov trade will not factor in that aspect.

Personally I could not pull the trigger on that, I really want to. If the team believes Fantilli can light it up in a year or two (max) then you overpay, but if the plan is to let him develop in the NCAA for 2-3 years then develop over a couple years in pro hockey before making an impact then no.
That kind of price you need a forward who will make an immediate impact on the ELC.

No i do not, here's why, while i like fantelli a lot we are not 1 player away from competing so we need to make as many selections as possible on draft day.
The assets Hart & TK could bring back far outnumber the 1 player we draft.
If Hart get us 1st, 2nd prospect and Tk gets us 1st, prospect that means your trading 3 1sts plus prospects and other picks. Not worth it right now, maybe in 4 years when we have assets and prospects working there way onto the team do we do a blockbuster move until the makes zero sense. |

IMO if he wants to return to Michigan all the better. I wouldnt be concerned too much about when he gets here. I just want him. He is #1 pick type talent.

I think that’s extremely unrealistic saying Fantilli is gonna do potentially 2 more years of college and then 2 of AHL. He most
Likely plays college out next year and then jumps into the NHL. I could see him in the NHL next season |

He's an above-average 1st-overall pick in most years. Like Matthews, Nate Mac, Stamkos level.

That is my pick at 7, unless Michkov is out there, my other wild cards are Barlow, and Leonard.
I know its risky to go for Michkov but i cant help but look at the Wild and see how one player has transformed there team. |

I don't mind if he returns to Michigan for a year, but that has to be looked at as developing time, time is money. If he becomes what I think he can be then you have to grab a franchise center even if the price is high, but it doesn't matter what I think it is about what the Flyers think. It just can not be a slow burn development cycle to pay that price.
It's exactly what the Flyers need to start a true rebuild, but they need to know for sure that's what they are getting, not guess or hope.

while I get we aren't one player away, and no amount of hype is a guarantee of course, Fantilli is as close to a sure thing that you could hope for in any asset or prospect coming back. A #1 overall in any other draft most likely. But it's a steep price. I've heard what makes a good trade is that both teams are a little unhappy for one reason or another. Giving up #2 would surely be hard to swallow, as would be what the Flyers would give up. |

You have to read the post, not fill in your assumptions. I never said 2 years in the AHL, I said pro development (which can still be NHL). It doesn't matter what you assume he is going to do, the Flyers need to know his exact plan before pulling the trigger.
The Flyers just can not afford to pay that price for a player who "looks to be reaching his potential" then pay the big contract hoping he reaches it. He needs to have an impact before the big contract comes.
