Nobodys giving a conditional first or even a second for yegor.

He gets a 1 year prove it deal.

Devils are working on a sign and trade with the Blue Jackets and Damon Severson. 8 years, 6.25M AAV.

It's only the 2nd sign and trade in NHL history.

I have to agree, I don't think Yegor is getting a conditional first. Particularly this time of year when the impending draft makes everyone overly value their picks. But I'm not opposed to trading him.

What I found disappointing about Yegor is even the few times he got to play in the top six with Jack or Nico, he still didn't produce much. He just looked off all season.

Is there a source for this? You always hear sign and trade, but they never happen.

One year deal I guess but I’d be surprised if he would get a 4th in a trade

One year prove it deal or a trade just so we could open up the roster spot. Straight up, hopefully we'd be able to get a 3rd back. You're off your rocker if you think we'd get a conditional 1st and pieces of top of it lol. I don't even think he'd get a conditional 2nd. He'd need to be included in a package of some type to maximize his value imo.

I really think one of him or Bo will be traded by the draft. So we'll see.

Wow Fitz got a 3rd for a upcoming UFA in Sevs. Now that’s magic. Continue the amazing work Fitzy. I guess next year is going to be the start of Simon Nemec. LGD!!!!!

Yeah it's a good deal for sure. I hope there's more sign and trades to come in the NHL.

Columbus gets the extra year with a pretty friendly cap hit for Severson. With how their team is they need to get quality players and try to start competing now instead of waiting for prospect to mature. Wonder some of their quality defensive prospects are on the move to try to facilitate their roster reconstruction, especially with Severson now taking a spot away.

I wish Damon the best and hope things go great for him in Columbus. Kind of a bummer to see him moving on after so many tough years here. He did really well this past season, finally playing in a more comfortable spot and on a much more competitive club.

That said, great work by Fitzy. He kept Severson here for the playoff run and got us a quality pick back.

Was never a possibility unfortunately. We were never going to keep him long term and block Nemec, especially not at over 6M when he'd be on our 3rd pair. We just couldn't afford it. From Todd, straight from Sevos agent: Fitz talked to their camp about a short term deal back in October but they said no. That was the end of the talks the rest of the way. Fitz had no interest in bringing him back long term.

And I don't blame them. Sevo wanted the bag and this was likely his last chance at it. Why take a short deal and risk getting hurt/playing like poop and losing a ton of money? I'm happy for him, he deserves this.

It makes sense that Severson wanted the stability of a long term deal as well seeing we don't know how long the flat cap is going to last. We got pretty fortunate that the 8th year leverage got us this sizable of a return seeing he could've just said no and tried to get more money for one less year.

Bluejackets are a dumpster fire… between provorov, severson and gudreau they will never win a cup in the next 8 years

Agreed. Solid return for someone who was leaving in 22 days.

Wonder if Fitz is trying to do the same with Graves and Wood lol, or just their rights, even if it's for just a 5th or something.

I think getting a late round pick for Wood is possible because GMs love truculence and whatnot but with how stingy the cap is going to be this year everybody will want to have the most cap space for the best players and it's going to pinch middle/bottom players out.

I don't see a sign and trade for Graves as being likely as nobody will want to give him a max length contract. He's a good player but you could see that skating ability toward the end of the season/playoffs was an issue for him. We probably played him in too expanded of a role and he couldn't keep up.

Yeah I don't see them happening. But I definitely think Fitz is trying. He could totally trade their rights for a pick if someone wants to start negotiating before July 1. There's been reports over the last week or so that he wants to add draft picks, and this would be one way of doing that.

Nothing wrong with picking up 5th round picks so you can double up your 5th to a team for their 4th if there are players on the board they like.

Friedman essentially reiterates his points about Bratt and Timo. Says Bratts negotiations have been a grind, and that NJ wants to get it done but "Bratts reps are slow playing it a bit." Also says again that Timo could be a hard one to do, because its going to be a big number and he has another year left, so he can wait if he wants. "The deals arent impossible. They're just a grind."

I love trading picks that we could have used to draft busts to move up and draft more highly coveted busts.
