Ok

Victor Olofsson didn't request a trade, but, according to league sources, the winger and his camp are expecting one this summer.

A look at the challenges facing the Sabres and why it will take time to get a deal done:

Another note in here: Sabres GM Kevyn Adams has checked the market to see what it would cost to move up in the first round of the draft. He's also spoken to teams to see which ones would want to move up to No. 13.

Valuable info to have entering draft night.

That’s great that he makes the team better, but the contract is a killer.

Adams doesn’t want to bust his nut 30 seconds after he gets his pants off, he wants to go all night long.

You want a Stanley Cup, wouldn’t it be more beneficial giving yourself a longer window of opportunity ?

So Vegas and Florida have no overpayments or dead money?

What is the freaking point of these “value deals” if we aren’t going to use the cap space on needs when opportunities arise?

All things on due time.

He is wisely using time during SC Playoffs negotiating Key Player Contacts,
-Apparently has Dalen's wrapped up to very reasonable $10m
-Negotiating Power's...we'll see there
-as much as I don't agree with it, got Okposo's done. C'est La vie

Ramping up for Draft and FA when the bulk of activity occurs.
It has been rather unusually busy predraft with those two major deals...yet, they are just 2 deals. And more importantly, IMO neither was a strong target for the Sabres.

I fail to see how ridicule is warranted just yet.

That Dahlin number I’d say is market value not “very reasonable”.

He will be paid accordingly.

Third highest paid D-man in the entire league.

pretty sure he's been on the block for over a calendar year. now that they have the ability to replace him through a trade, a free agent or a prospect, they may just try a little harder now.

Yeah and Cozens deal as of now is pretty fair. Not some heist yet.

I love Cozens but his production under Tage and a few other forwards is somewhat limited.

What will make him a value deal is if he actually becomes good at defense

Where is Vegas’ overpayment ?

Maybe William Karlsson but we’re talking maybe overpaid by not even $1M.

Florida’s overpayment is the reason they are still playing hockey right now. Bob’s every every cent of the $10M contract. Now he may not be worth it a few weeks from now, but nonetheless.

Darnell Nursetolianen is making $9.25M on the Oilers top pair forever.

Only a matter of time before Dahlin is making as much as other d-men he’s a lot better then.

Dahlin has all the cards to demand to be the highest paid D in the league. 10m would be a relief.

Always good to keep your options open but I can’t help but immediately think that GMKA doesn’t think highly of that 2nd cut

……but then wouldn’t that show he’s only in it for the money…..and…..doesn’t really care about the whole “wants to be here, team player” mentality.

Also Cale Makar.

As I’ve said for a while now : get good players and win hockey games.

Bobrovsky is a terrible contract. But you know what’s worse than having Bobrovsky at 10 mil? Having bad goaltending in the playoffs.

You know what’s worse than worrying about Damon Severson in 3-4 years from now? Henri Jokiharju continuing to play above his head and contributing to losses at 20-+ minutes a night

capfriendly has this constant trade scenario of Jokiharju for Jeff Petry from pens fans and I can't get over how useless it is.

Just curious.

If we were a team with the success of the Minnesota Wild, and we had contracts like Damon Severson and Jeff Petry and John Gibson holding us back from being able to make meaningful moves.. would you be irritated?

I’m sure I would be. But good teams/organizations find ways around these types of deals.

If you want to convince me we’re a well run, good organization, you need to do better than no playoff appearances but shiny nice value deals and cap space.

I mean, I predicted that half the fanbase would do this after claiming “no excuses” they’d find a reason why every player was a bad fit or overpayment

How about we don’t give Severson 8 years or run it back with Joker in the top 4.

That would be cool
