Juuse Saros and Connor Hellebuyck faced the most shots in the league and played a whopping 64 games each. They came out with some of the best GSAx in the league.

Gibson played 53 games. These three guys are the same age (generally). Gibson was not terrible with a -2 GSAx, considering his load. But he did pull a Carter Hutton and just died early.

Everyone wants to be good, well, get a good player instead of going from bad to kinda bad.

For reference, here's the 3 guys with the Fenwick Against Shots per game, which includes "missed" shots.

Saros - 46
Hellebuyck - 42
Gibson - 52

Well just got text from my Buddy!! I don't think it's to much different then talked about. Adams if definitely trying to land a Dman. Interesting name I was told Devon Toews and they want a C who can win Face/offs and add some grit and Offense. Can't be chasing the puck as much as they do.
- Buff36

Not a C but Konecny.

Toews is a wild name.

Pending UFA and will be 30 when his current deal is up.

Won't he cost a ton to trade for in assets and then also command a giant contract?

Yet Devon Levi and Craig Anderson playing with the same rag tag group as y’all call them severely outperformed UPL.

Please discuss.

- ImThatGuy

So UPL's 9 games at .917 don't count, but 7 games from Levi at .905 is massively outplaying him? Sorry to say, but it a .892 and a .905 really aren't massively different. Levi is the better goalie prospect, but he isn't light years ahead. If Levi and Anderson were posting 920+s, I'd be with you. Take out the Boston shelling and I believe UPL ends at a .900. On one of the worst defensive teams in the league, how can you not think his sv% can move into the .910 range (perfect for backups)?

I agree, he just said he was told his name was brought up. Could be Adams just checking the boxes.

I'm a massive fan of the Konecny idea. Pay the PRICE

If the Sabres got him, I bet the cost is 1 and 3.

He was traded for 2 2nds in 2020, he is now older and will be a UFA in a season, I don't think the cost will be as high as you'd expect.

I would be on board with this trade, would be a great partner for either Dahlin or Power.

Well this is a reason why he wouldn't cost a ton and command a giant contract.

They count, even though the sample is small. If you look at his entire professional career, the inconsistency is like his defining feature.

before broads storms in here and slams people for bashing an imperfect contract, imo folks should be more interested in getting the right player instead of the right contract.

I'm pretty sure the entire league would/is calling on him if he is available, who would be the biggest competitors for the Sabres in trying to acquire him?

I'd argue, playing on horrible teams has been his constant since coming to NA. He got shelled in Rochester with no help, he moved up and got the same action here. Furthermore, inconsistency has been the way for every goalie we've had, including Craig a 20 year vet.

.935
.857
.929
.912
.813
.944
.939

Those are Levi's 7 starts. If 30% of his starts are clunkers too, shouldn't we be looking at the guys right in front of them both?

Levi has the benefit of the doubt considering his extraordinary college career, playing for a poopty team that he single handedly lifted into the tournament and is a much more consistent player. Rochester still made the playoffs last year. But the kid is month to month, going from poop to ok to poop again. It's exactly what he did in Rochester.

Save percentage can be influenced by play style, sure, but the GAR and WAR numbers were also better for both Anderson and Levi

Both had +4 GAR and +.7 WAR compared to -12GAR and -1.7 for UPL. He was a hindrance to the team compared to the other options

.892 and .905 is a roughly 40 goals over the course of a season at 35 shots a game if my shotty math is correct.

So yea it’s quite a bit…..
