He's made bad decisions in goal for 2 straight seasons. If he doesn't try to improve, that should put his job at risk.
- Lunaion

he made moves and they didn't work out. As we've discussed numerous times, finding a goalie is a complete crap shoot. Just look at last year's free agent signings.

Their owner has been a kid in a candy store when it comes to new shiny things. Congrats, they aren't afraid to make mistakes. They've made some absolutely terrible moves mixed in with the good ones. The fact that they moved on doesn't impress me much - most teams love to get rid of bad contracts.

They've made way more good moves than bad. No question there.

comire IMO should be exposed to waivers and go to rochester if he clears

I am fine with 3 goalies with levi and 6k being 2 as long as there a decent 40 game goalie brought in w/o costing assets

Welcome to the club.
I stated the same over the weekend.

But have they? Think about it - they had a roster that competed for the cup right out of the gate. I'd argue that they have probably made as many bad moves as they have good since then. They have a very good roster so I have to give them that. They are the best team in the west, but that isn't saying much this year.

I'd say he settled for what was left and brought in fillers.

What if Adams signs hill or trades for Varlamov, and it goes badly, should he lose his job?

What about griese?

When a team and the players names are engraved on the cup, it doesn't also say in a strong season in their conference.

Which GM do you think is worse: Adams, or Beane?

Chandler Stephenson for a 5th round pick.

Brett Howden for a 4th round pick.

Stone for Brannstrom and a 2nd rounder.

Marchessault, Smith, Theodore, Karlsson, McNabb for free.

They spent more in acquiring Pacioretty and then dumping Pacioretty than they did on building the meat of a Stanley Cup winning core.

Any reason you left the Eichel trade out of your list?

I am with you that, barring an anomaly, if we miss the playoffs this upcoming season heads should roll. It should also be said that we don’t know what he tried doing behind the scenes and how much of an effect that had on the final version of those rosters.

Also a pretty big splash trading for Eichel and signing Pietrangelo.

We know he tried to do things. Not sure a GM deserves any credit for trying.

My point is, why do we need to move a blue chip prospect or premium draft capital to round out the edges of the roster ?

Fortunately Tage has developed into a 1C and filled the void that Eichel left, I think Cozens has 1C potential himself in his prime.

Vegas didn’t have to move the sun and the stars for the rest of their roster, that’s my point.

The last 12 years has nothing to do with today or tomorrow.

Because we're not a new franchise starting with a salary cap of 0.0 and being paid to take legit nhl players.

it's not really a comparable that works here. Its entirely possible the Sabres can build a winner without trading premium picks/prospects. But its also equally likely they'll have to. It can go either way.

Wrong. It has EVERYTHING to do with today and tomorrow, just like the 17 year drought for the Bills did.

There is some awful, terrible asset management in their past. They may be on the cusp of winning a cup, but I don't think that it changes some of the brutal decisions that they have made. I dare say that the west was extremely weak this year.
- Slump Buster

How does it not? They’re literally on the cusp of accomplishing the ultimate goal.

Also, the “they were handed a great team in expansion” narrative is total BS.

The only players remaining from that team that make any type of difference is Marchessault, Theodore, Smith, McNabb. They’ve built a cup winning team in a few years with ballsy moves
