You live in Alabama...grey clouds?

Yes, exactly right.
Retain the Core, replace other expensive players with good young talent on ELC's and Bridge deals. You will realize eventually it is true.

The Core can be 9, 10, 11 players

Another solid post uncle ion.

Small markets need to compete differently.

Build from within.

All joking aside, the point that Vegas benefitted from very favorable expansion draft rules is a a valid one. The real issue with the Buffalo Sabres is the ability to manage personalities. Jack Eichel was supposedly an entitled, spoiled brat (i.e. he acted like 95% of superstars in sports). Vegas figured out how to win a championship with said entitled, spoiled brat, while the Sabres are still praying that there are enough guys good enough simply get them into the playoffs that also "want to be here". I gave them a pass for the O'Reilly trade, thinking he needed a change of scenery as much as the Sabres needed to move on from him. But, now you have guys like not only Eichel, but even Reinhart and Montour as well, thriving once they leave here. It's an epidemic.

VGK had effectiveleadership in place and a culture cultivated from the start of the misfits being a team in tae locker room

Buffalo had none of it because the leadership was a spoiled, entitled brat and the other leaders all gave in/gave up...including the current Captain Dad Okposo.

To each their own, I find it's circumventing established rules. I'm actually kind of floored that the league didn't do something immediately when Tampa started pulling this. Bad for the league either way.

Pretty sure Chicago did it first on their first cup (could be wrong). Talked about fixing it then. They didn't now its becoming a reoccurring thing. I think they should fix the loop hole.

It's obviously successful. All Terry has to do is pay the league a cool billy and we can draft a contender from around the league then negotiate with players so we can keep them on LTIR and go 14M over the cap. It's a good roadmap.
- RhinoFan

The players drinks were always topped off and even sometimes got extra sides with their orders, I dont know how that wasnt a successful business plan.

Do you blame an elite 18 year old for acting immature yet still getting his way, while also acknowledging how incompetent ownership/management was handling said 18 year old.

With Kim as President the entire organization had 0 backbone, 0 identity, chaos in the locker room.

The players acted poorly, ownership allowed it and backed up the brink trucks too for them.

The organization did their best to piss players off for years. Reinhart was never offered a long term deal, Montour was played as a winger or scratched, Jake McCabe was scratched on fan appreciation night when he was named "unsung hero," Ralph hated Skinner and Erod. The list goes on and on. They were inept for a decade

Checks notes.

He seems very well liked in Vegas.

He was the first one to congratulate March on the conn smythe.

Eichel just had the most points in the playoffs and probably should have won it.

While Buffalo fans continue to piss and moan about how jack Eichel was mean to them he’s out there celebrating Stanley Cup victories

So congrats Buffalo you win.

A Stanley Cup is cool, but imagining how good the Sabres top line will be in 2031...priceless

How many reports did we have to see from insiders that all said the same thing about how this franchise was a legitimate laughingstock around the league and nobody respected the ownership group or management group?

Sorry we will have to trade those pieces to acquire more picks and cap space.

Buffalo is small market after all and that means they can’t afford to have a good players and actually operate under a secret lower salary cap ceiling than the rest of the league that the NHL doesn’t tell us about

Reinhart wasnt offered a long term deal for a reason. He wasnt a "core" lead by example player.
Couple different gms saw his soft dueshe bag attitude and did the right thing.

Upside:

Down 3 games to 1 and 7-1 in the 3rd period , shrunk showed everyone the gms were right.

Eichel was awesome here and deserved his extension. Also deserves the cup IMO

Agreed.
I just want to make that trade with soon to be expensive players rather than top prospect selections.
I would suspect acquiring a top4 Dman and a 1A Goalie will hit the Cap a combined $8m minimum (now or on the next contract if shorter term remaining).
Going to need some youngins on ELC's soon enough.

Pilut called up to sit in the presser instead of playing in AHL all star game

Botts fired mid offseason after doing very well in the trickle up approach with Cinncy and Rochester

Chris Taylor getting canned from Rochester after a really good year

Thank God Murray drafted Nylander instead of Sergachev or else we may still be in Hockey Hell

the organizational ineptness appears to be over. All because the Harbor Center inspector took over.

Were you impressed with reinhart , he was irrelevant thru out the cup and starts trying with 8 minutes left 😀

I'm not sure why my opinion needs to be altered?

How does my post change anything?

Reinhart fell flat on his face and pulled a super kasper act.

Fyck him

I think they're on the warm seat. Donnie maybe hot.

They can't take a step back. This isn't some ageing team. This is a developing team and the core as a whole took another massive step forward. Stepping back means everyone takes a step back in their development. I'd expect the team defense to rise, the goaltending to rise and maybe the offensive slips a bit. Considering how many career offensive seasons a lot of guys had, replicating that would be insane.
