Agreed. He'd be an improvement over Jokiharju but not a needle mover at all
- Hank Balling

Devils advocate here.

Top pair on a poor Penguins team. Could be better used in less of role. Not sure that is here though since we need Power a partner and he might as well be top pair B

I still think he's better suited to a bottom pair role. Not going to use the famed "4/5" defenseman distinction because what that really means is that he's a bottom pair guy who can play in the second pair for 5-10 games, but I wouldn't hate the move because I do think he's an improvement. It's also not a good enough improvement.

Kinda starting to feel like this could be a classic Sabres move tbh: 2 years, 4-4.5 per. He's in that middle/lower middle class of NHLers that gets hit hard by cap stagnation

Like I mentioned months back, Adams has talked regarding Hanifin. The Flames sem to want more for Tanev i was told, don't know why.

That's the guy they should pay for tbh. They need defensemen in the literal sense

The thinking is Tanev might be able to get a first back if they hold him a for a few months (desperate teams at the deadline).

But Adams and co. prefer Tanev to Hanifin.

Theyve discussed just about everyone, Tanev was the guy they really wanted though.

Im not sure calgary moves him now.

I get it, people can take the charts or leave 'em.

Tanev is like a supercharged Jake McCabe if he was a righty imo. That's what they need

They haven't discussed many players only a couple, not like people are thinking. You're going to see 68- 72 mill payroll.

They check in on a ton of players, i dont expect them to add all of them. A lot of what they spend this summer wont come on the books till 24-25.

I just look at the top right.

Offense number
Defense number
Overall.

In this one, we kinda need a more defensive d man for power…

Hanifin is a 40 something d man
Tanev is a 99 d man.

Like Hank said, pay for the guy who’d move the needle.

Hanifin might be better than joker, but he doesn’t “grade out” as highly as Tanev.

Always good to hear that Adam’s is kicking tires. I just want him to kick some bigger tires.

the 8 year deal he signed kicks in this summer. Full not trade. He's as unmovable as it gets.

We’ll find out how jacked up Stinky’s shoulder really was as the playoffs went along. He definitely took some big hits to make plays through the early rounds, especially vs Carolina. Maurice alluding to several players probably going to need a surgery this summer.
Montour definitely messed his shoulder up late in game 3 of Final.
You could see Bennett becoming less effective as the games went along, too.
They didn’t have the depth to deal with many (any) injuries.
Vegas’ big boys ground them the rest of the way down.
Oh well, was still a fun playoff run to watch.

I hope you know I'm kidding by the way - I've always liked Reinhart. Definitely would have been happy to see him hoist the cup
