IMO Mittelstadt is partly of victim of being drafted almost immediately after Reinhart and Eichel. I think peoples expectations on what a forward prospect should turn out to be or their path to being a productive player was way to high from day 1.

He isn’t atypical of some forwards drafted in that range that didn’t immediately perform out of the gate

World's really raised the expectations. In hindsight, the warning signs were everywhere. This was the first year he looked physically ready for the NHL. Cozens, and even Krebs, didn't have that same challenge.

Nothing about Mitts is elite, he is a complimentary middle 6 forward.

Pretty good one at that.

He was moved on the top line and showed he could compete there. 17 pts in his last 11. Only one game without a pt in that span. Was a major reason we were still in it till the end.

I think what my issue was with Krebs most of the year is that I did not see his elite playmaking ability nearly enough to warrant some of the opportunities people wanted to give him.

He also was the least productive PP player on PP2 in terms of points/60. He was outperformed by Okposo. (Small sample size so grain of salt)

But I do like his tenacity and potentially rat like scumbagedness in the middle six

I mean... sure I can? He's an offensive d-man, whose offense at 5v5 has dried up and defensive abilities have fallen off a cliff. He'd also get zero PP time here, which is where he does a lot of damage.
