Not a bad call at all. Exactly 1/2 of the GM staff is familiar with his game - Michael Ghofrani
What would Carolina even do with Olofsson?
Buy him out and use that cap space elsewhere?
He feels nothing like a Carolina type player. |

But usage in which he wasnt good, and will likely be replaced and reduced, right? He'll get a raise but not one that would make me want to run away. Unless someone offered me better value, which is entirely possible. - Michael Ghofrani
Not just the $, what's the term? If they aren't prepared to give any, what's the point of prolonging this? Just to save some $ this year?

I put the Pesce idea on Twitter early today in response to an Olofsson to CAR idea.
Pierre LeBrun apparently said the Sabres have checked in on him.
I had no idea. Just a random idea I thought of and now I think it’s my favorite option |

referring more to the targeted player not the deal itself |

They desperately need shooting talent.
They get guys to play well 5 on 5 but they can’t score enough
He makes sense there imo |

Opted is a strong word. They went for it on first down but got sacked senseless by linebackers who are all name NMC.
I dont know football was anything i said close? lmao - Michael Ghofrani
The I tried but nothing great worked out, so I had to scrape from the bottom of the floor argument is what gets some GM's fired. |

His replacement on the third pair would almost certainly cost less so i dont think its about that. |

Maybe a team that could cover up his deficiencies, could score some goals there with there talent. |

Often depends on why it didnt work and what expectations were for that year. |

Except Olofsson is a major black hole at 5v5.
I just cannot imagine Rod agreeing that Olofsson would be a good addition. |

There will eventually be expectations, at least I think there will, so trying hard but nothing of substance materializing is only going to last so long as an excuse. |

Right the idea is that they can basically get anyone to play well 5 on 5.
They made Stefan Noesen into a viable NHL forward at 28/29 years old after he was in the AHL last year
They also rehabbed Brady Skjei and I think Ghost did very well too (could be wrong on Ghost) |

Right, and if it doesnt change, he would be fired.
But for a summer where everyone has you at the top of their no trade in a season where nobody is projecting you to make the playoffs?
He can't force people to want to sign or accept deals. I dont think. |

They're going to magically get Olofsson to be interested in battling for the puck and along the boards?
I'll believe that when I see it.
He often plays like his biggest concern is not getting his jersey too dirty during a game. |

Sure.
For me, this offseason begins no more excuses season. |

I'm more interested in when Adams moves up to the POHO position and Ventura is promoted to GM. |

I’m not saying it will work but I can see them interested as a buy low option.
If we retain 50% as use him as a throw in for Pesce it would be unreal but I severely doubt it ever happens |

purely guessing, i think karmanos eventually gets a GM job and Ventura gets tapped as associate GM. |

If the GM got fired the expectations were pretty high. It's not "we think we're 12th in the West but finished 14th" |

Just over a year ago:
6/10/22
Bishop + a 7th for Future Considerations
That's how you start an offseason! If they wait, maybe the don't get the 7th.

If there is one place in the league where Olofsson would make sense, I think Carolina is it.
They always woefully undershoot their expected goals.
He’s a guy that could go on a PDO bender when you need him to.
Question, would Rod pull his hair out with the rest of his game |

I think Carolina is an example of putting too much emphasis on underlying numbers and not having enough variance in the type of player you have.
They are a well oiled machine but they have very limited offensive creativity besides Aho.
You can’t just set out to build a team of all 54% XGF forwards and not have some combination of skill sets |
