Was it worth it for them to walk away from Dougie Hamilton in his prime, mid cup window?

The decision isn't going to be a hockey related one. Dundon has probably relayed to mgmt to extend whichever of pesce or skjei is cheaper. And then flip the assets they get for the other to add some shooting talent.

It's not a bad idea in theory if they can pull it off for the right players.

Dont you think having another high caliber RD like Pesce made that an easier pill to swallow?

I think you’re operating under the assumption they are definitely moving him. I’m not there yet.

I don't remember saying anything about passing him up. Don't expect him to be there, think Washington takes him.

11 and 13 should get you infront of them

Right, but they probably feel that way about nikishin (spelling) and Skjei being a lot better than anticipated helps too.

Fwiw, I don't think they'll move him. He wants to stay, and they want to keep him. That almost always leads to an extension.

2 aggressive moves and taking on bad salary to move up in the draft. Sound like KA?

I mean, it quite literally was until Murray said no.

So his balls shrunk at one of the most crucial moments in the franchise's entire history, with a quarterback that was playing like the messiah in cleats.

Sounds great.

Sometimes, vibes only gets you so far.

"Let's go back to Leslie Frazier's departure from Buffalo..

Sean McDermott took over the play calling with 13 seconds left in Kansas City that resulted in a field goal..

This year McDermott wanted to call the defense and Frazier decided to leave"

This one would take it much much further.

Part of that deal was because they wanted Murray.

not nearly as much as they wanted Kasper. My point being theyd do it to land a guy at or near the top of their draft board because in fact, they did do it lol.

I saw it reported by a couple places as 7th and Murray for the Sabres 9th overall.

Wasn't sure which was accurate.

Thank you, Sabres fans are the only fanbase that accepts management/coaching trying as good enough.

Is 3 years at $3.7M per cheap for a 4th line Center?

Is Evan Rodrigues even a Center?

- kingcong39

Thanks for the catch, should have been line 36, David Kampf at 2 x $1.8 as 4C for cheap...not Erod.

3x $3.75m was in reference to Mayfield's projected contract.

lol, i dont count it as just trying if he has the deal worked out.

Again, its one thing to criticize KA for not being bold, thats fair. But if the player doesnt want to waive his no move, thats not the GMs fault. It just is what it is.

I actually think he doesn't extend. I think they will choose to pay Slavin next offseason. I don't see them keeping both into their mid-late 30's.

But I don't think it's 100% that they don't just roll with him into the last year of his deal

You guys don't get how good Matvei is. Guys outplayed the #1 pick every time they've played each other.

You don't pass him up cause he cant play here for 3 years or whatever. Most picks wont.

If his contract wasnt a "problem" he would arguably be #1. Guys don't torch the K at 18 like he has.

- DirtyDan

I agee. He's the pick if available, which I highly doubt.
