Good analysis and great read.
Exciting Russians that can score goals are hard to pass up.
Can't help but wonder if it is possible to buy out a Russian team's interest in a player.
Top NHL players are being paid in the range of $5m to $8m. coming off their original entry level deals. Is it possible for an NHL team to buy the release of an elite player from his Russian club? - spatso
It’s not supposed to be no since the NHL and the KHL signed a memorandum of understanding in 2011 saying they would respect the contracts signed in the other league. At least that’s my understanding of it all. And thanks for the kind comment |

I'm really curious to see how Michkov will pan out, personally I don't know poop about the guy and I've barely seen any footage of him playing but a lot of hockey minds out there are really high on him. you can tell there's a different hype around him compared to the one we witnessed concerning Shane Wright last year, who was almost unanimously thought to become the first overall pick but in a not-so-special draft class... |

16 points in 7 tournament games? damn...
but with 14 points in 5 games, Wright also had an impressive production, and it actually gives him a higher point per game total than Michkov, which still leaves me wondering what red flag(s) did teams exactly take into consideration to let him drop at #4. and it's only later after he was drafted that he had that poopty performance in the OHL playoffs, during which I think he was even benched at times. |

If Mitchkov could have been showcased at last years U18's, U20's and this years U20's, we'd be having a very different discussion regardless of the KHL contract scenario. Guys sets goal scoring records everywhere he goes. |

Tkachuk did the exact same thing a year before. We could see others jets players doing the same thing.
I wonder why people focused on Dubois? It cant be because hes french canadian, I mean, nobody would do that....
On the others hand, I feel kind of bad for Jets fans. They got a team back, but it will be hard for them to build anything if players wont stick long term.
As much as they dont want to, they might have to rebuild cause they wont get 3 or 4 talent for talent kind of deals.
This might be a new trend in the NHL now. Debrincat is in similar boat in Ottawa. |

my opinion of him is probably slightly biased because of his insanely dumb hit on Jake Evans, but yeah he does look like a giant douche, I agree.
not sure about Wheeler's attitude but they took the captaincy away from him, so he probably isn't a "role model" either... looks like they were dealing with a generalized cluster(frank) in WPG, and they weren't able to rectify the situation.

Well PLD female doged and moaned in CBUS. He even quit on the ice. Gets traded to the Peg, had made multiple trade requests, said he would test FA and let his agent leak his preferred destination (Montreal) which hurts his trade value. |

Bobrovsky is probably starting to wish he had a slightly better team in front of him, the same way Price certainly felt throughout his career in MTL...

nobody wants to play for Torts
they should stop giving that guy a job behind the bench
and their starting goalie did the same thing that Dubois just did, so....
they had a team culture problem, not a Dubois problem |

I think the Panthers have a pretty good team. Way better than what mtl had in past years.
But Vegas is pretty deep this year, they have a lot of experience. Their goalies were supposed to sink them, but they were very strong, so... |

yeah I saw the highlights of that recently, I had forgotten about that part, and I agree that's not a good look for any NHL player, even if you're stuck with the league's biggest assh ole of a coach. |

oh I wasn't trying to insinuate FLA are as bad or that the habs were as good, but as you mention their competition is pretty deep and they're having trouble keeping up, a bit like MTL in the finals against TB... (the habs and lightning were definitely much more further apart in terms of overall talent in comparison though lol).

And thanks for the kind comment - Karine Hains The issue is not about anything between NHL and KHL....rather it has to do with sanctions in place by the governments because of the invasion of Ukraine. Transferring millions of dollars to Russia is not going to be allowed.
