In 2 and a half weeks, the draft will take place in Nashville and there will be plenty of speculation on who the Canadiens will pick on the day, here’s my guess on what will happen.

yeah you're right, most lists have Fantilli going #2 (lol), except for a few "hey look at my special list, I require attention so it's different" ones here and there...

I prefer Friday night, that's all.

It could be more than 3 years as Hughes himself has said. Habs need injection of talent too much to risk getting nothing in the end. And there’s no need to say it would be stupid. No one knows what will happen in the future and so far, passing on Wright doesn’t look like a mistake at all

Might be. mistake not picking the Russian, but if the player they pick ends up as a productive top 6 forward, it will have been worth it.

Better to be safe at this point int he rebuild than take that risk.

Exciting Russians that can score goals are hard to pass up.

Can't help but wonder if it is possible to buy out a Russian team's interest in a player.

Top NHL players are being paid in the range of $5m to $8m. coming off their original entry level deals. Is it possible for an NHL team to buy the release of an elite player from his Russian club?

Again, I highly doubt that money transfer can occur with the current sanctions against doing business with Russia. Even if his KHL team was interested.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Tkachuk did the exact same thing a year before. We could see others jets players doing the same thing.

I wonder why people focused on Dubois? It cant be because hes french canadian, I mean, nobody would do that....


On the others hand, I feel kind of bad for Jets fans. They got a team back, but it will be hard for them to build anything if players wont stick long term.

As much as they dont want to, they might have to rebuild cause they wont get 3 or 4 talent for talent kind of deals.

This might be a new trend in the NHL now. Debrincat is in similar boat in Ottawa.

doing that while Tortorella is doing everything he can to keep things positive for everyone on the team, it's just so mean... Dubois clearly has an attitude problem.

Chicago traded Debrincat and then he wants out of Ottawa, a year before he is a UFA. 2 teams already for him at 25 (I think?).

also for Dubois, they already have 2 key players that want out, with others most likely to follow. If its more a team thing than a player thing, why do you blame him for that? and why do you refuse to consider that torts was the coach in CBJ and how he treats some of his stars players?

if Smith and Carlson are gone...then best player available is Zack Benson....The Russian is a special circumstance....a political prisoner of sorts.....not worth the gamble.
