I love Mitch Marner ...but there's nothing unfair about that proposal. It won't happen but the value is pretty close IMHO.
- The Law

Make them overpay then. Have them throw in their 1st. We're trading the best player in the deal after all.

Agreed.

Lindholm is a Selke contending C who is capable of ppg numbers. He's UFA, so there's some risk in re-signing (he'll want a substantial salary upgrade).

Andersson can play big minutes, is a RD, and is on a fantastic contract.

Won't happen, but definitely not a silly proposal.

I think the bolded will be gone by the time the Leafs pick.

The other two will be available but Bonk is most likely going early in the 2nd round imho.

- Scabeh

If Bonk is there @ 33 when we have our 2nd pick... He's a Duck, book it. It'll be the same kind of 2nd round steal Baby Z turned out to be.

Tree says yeah, don't hate the deal but real not sure about Lindholms long term status (completely disregarding the idea that Marner has 2 years left and can sign wherever he wants), so we'll need that first rounder in the deal as well.

Proceeds to trade Calgary 1st, Robertson, prospect for Konecny. Signs Barbashev, resigns Acciari and ROR.

Ices a top 9 of:

Barbashev / Matthews / Nylander
Tavares / Lindholm / Konecny
Knies / ROR / Acciari

Watch out, it's raining cups.

Why are we criminally underrating Marner? Selke candidate and consistently around 100 PPG over 82 games?

Playoffs? If so Lindholm has 17 points in 27 playoff games.

- Santo_44

Underrating? He's awesome. One of the best RWs in the game.

You're criminally underrating Lindholm and Andersson. An elite centre (40g on his resume) and an elite top pairing dman. Both on excellent contracts ...Andersson's with term.

The same argument could be made for criminally over rating Marner. The guy went literal years without a single goal in the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong, 100 points per game is seriously impressive, just slightly less impressive than being nominated for the selke once.

- joel878

Marner isnt a goal scorer. In those 2 years he had 8pts in 13 games
In that time, matthews who is a pure goal scorer, only had 3 goals in 13 games. But am did have 14pts as well
Just saying

Most likely, yeah.

But maybe some teams are stupid. It's happened before with Chychrun falling. Even Liljegren falling to the Leafs.

And it's looking like a couple teams could be stupid early in this draft with Michkov.

Leafs pick is basically a 2nd, so I could see them drafting Bonk there. If that's their guy.

He had 60 points last year.

If Marner did that we would fire him into the sun.

This is why Leaf fans can't have nice things.

Would be happy with Dragicevic, as far as names go, Bonk would be great. It would be nice to see Leafs bonk some opposing players.
- winsix

Both are great names. Dragicevic sounds like a dragon from Croatia (my friend would love it, since she's from there) and Bonk, every time he hits someone you can just say-

Fantilli still better... that's why we are drafting a big, fast, nasty, skilled Canadian Center at 2.

He's awesome but I would not say he is nasty. He is physical but not Tkachuk like

Doubt Marner comes close to 100pts last year on CGY.

All reports have the Habs passing on Michkov and drafting Leonard or Reinbacher.

Both look like solid prospects but man....if Michkov joins the league in 3 years and dominates, everyone that passed on him will look foolish.

Lol this is what we are coming to.

Ok.

Marner has a selke and amazing offensive season plus great 1st round. Meh 2nd round.

Lindholm has a career 17 points in 27 games in playoffs plus a 60 point season.

WE NEED THAT GUY.

Playing without Gaudreau and and Tkachuk, two players a lot better than him, showed last season, though.

He's a great player and all, but it showed how limited he is without that elite talent flanking him.
