Kicks at the can, sure. But that's a little simplistic and reductive. It also requires shrewd management, Zez. And rising to the moment. - fifty__missions
It's not considering that's what Treliving and all the other smart hockey minds say. Give yourself a chance. Gotta get to the show to even do that.

Unreal shift. Maybe the best 5v5 shift of the whole NHL season. |

I was told Bobrovsky would continue to be lights out because he's got 2 vezinas and how amazing he was playing.

Look at the changes Vegas has made over the last six years. Not afraid to swing big. Weren't content with "kicks at the can". |

Again you were told maybe he would continue to be lights out, because has been for longer stretches in the past.
You keep making it sound like that was such an outlandish claim, and that it was next to impossible. But I guess when you are right for once you need to keep reliving it. |

Keep going man, you are only a few repetitive posts in taking over 1st place for repetitive drivel from that guy that wants to trade Nylander

If it wasn't for Bobrovsky though, they wouldn't have made it out of the first round.

As long as the Leafs keep running this flawed core back and trying to bandaid around it, will do! |

Well come on. Never in the history of the Stanley cup playoffs has a relatively average goalie stepped it up and won a cup.

Look what they had to work with to start. They drafted 13D, and of those you could argue 5 were top-4 D.
They were given Tuch to take Haula. They were given Smith to take Marchessault . They were given a 2nd, 4th and Gusev to take Garrison.
They were given Theodore.
They were given a 1st, a 2nd and David Clarkson's contract to take Karlsson.
They were given a 2nd to take Fleury.
They started with 3 1sts in the top 15 (Glass, Brannstrom and Suzuki) as well as with a dearth of young cheap talent from the draft.
Literally no one else in the league was as well situated to make trades and moves as well as Vegas. It's no surprise they've been able to make so many deals. Their top prospects - Brannstrom, Suzuki and Glass - were all cannon fodder from the get go because they didn't need them.

I hope for yours and AA's sake Nylander gets traded for crap and ends up winning the cup like Kessel did.

The excuses and rationalizing is endless.
You don't think it took huge stones to make some of the decisions they made?

Can you imagine the month of March in here had we traded for Aiden Hill and Barbashev and been told we took Barbashev when we could have had O'Reilly

Who knows what he gets. But odds are just as good it ends up crap as it ends up good. Like most trades for good players.
I have no problem moving Nylander or Marner. But I do not think it is as easy as people think.

Darcy Kuemper won a cup last year, mind you, his team won it for him.
That's the first time in a while though, that a goalie wasn't a significant reason for victory in the playoffs.

They usually do, but it is not always someone who is expected to steal the show. I do not think it is unheard of for a goalie to come out of nowhere and steal a cup. So many goalies that are journeymen or average for most of their careers then have a few ridiculous seasons.
So to think it was ludicrous to believe Bob could play well for one more series sn steal the cup is pretty shallow minded.
